It was amazing to meet these young people, to witness their creativity first hand and to see them exploring a potential pathway to industry. Will Poulter Instagram – More than two-thirds of people in the UK say they’re worried about the climate crisis, in a survey by YouGov for Friends of the Earth, and a rising number of people across all generations are suffering from eco-anxiety – feelings of stress and fear about the future of the planet. Given the energy crisis and the rising cost of living, @friends_earth have identified what’s causing the problem, who’s hit hardest and the solutions to lower our heating bills and our emissions that harm our planet. They’re powering a new grassroots movement, bringing together different groups that are united by a common goal – warm homes that don’t cost the earth. Friends of The Earth have also helped educate me on some of the changes I can make, for the sake of the environment in a way that is considerate of how climate change effects people on a global scale and in differing ways. Our supporter @willpoulter has recorded a special reading of Elmer and the Gift – a storybook adventure where Elmer the Patchwork Elephant helps his Aunt Zelda, who has memory problems, remember a gift she was meant to give him. Alzheimer’s Research UK has teamed up with Andersen Press for the launch of the book, which was written and illustrated by the late David McKee.
