Angela Trimbur Instagram – Dirty Dance Camp was one of the dreamiest highlights of my life it felt so cool that 80 people trusted the potential of the curated experience enough to peel away from the comfort of their cozy grown up homes (some flew in alone knowing no one!) to attend this sleepaway dance camp, a place where we can relive some sentimental childhood camp times, or finally get one (I personally have never been always wanted.)
Rented out the @ashokancenter in the Catskills (where dirty dancing was set) so we could take it over and feel safe in knowing every person there had the same goal…to make new friends and celebrate the old, to dance to songs from the film, show off what they worked on in their groups for the big talent show…to bond over dance. We decorated leotards with sequins, recreated the bridge montage scene, sung in a round, bundled up by a s’mores fire, carried watermelons on the dance floor as we danced as dirty as possible to the dirtiest songs I could find. We screamed into the sky, pillow talked with bunk mates (omg the bunk beds) that I intentially cupided together after some deep dive IG research on those I never met- to predict best pairing for a smooth cozy two nights of sleep. When I see those people hanging out now in their own time IRL I get a lump in my throat and I just wanna play Cupid for friendships forever, it’s fulfilling…feels like I have a purpose here and that feels nice.
We had some emotional tears while holding ourselves listening to song “These Arms Of Mine”, saying the song represents how important it is to be gentle with ourselves. I really wish we just lived there together, everyone was so open and supportive, ugh back to real life ugh. I’m already planning the next, wish it was tomorrow.
