1,185 kilometres, from Mungindi to Charters Towers. This is the Inland Freight Route – a $1 billion project better known as the Second Bruce. It will take trucks off the Bruce Highway and deliver a big boost to regional towns. Building it is essential for Queensland as our population booms. So we’re getting on with it –and powering ahead with a big $107 million package of early works. It means shovels in the ground on priority upgrades along the critical freight route. Our government wants to see it built, so we’re getting work started now. We’re calling on the Federal Government to keep their commitment to the Inland Freight Route as well, and honour the agreed funding arrangement.

Under the new laws, knives, axes, machetes, as well as replica firearms like some gel blasters, would be banned from being sold to anyone under the age of 18. In addition, the changes will mean that retailers must securely store dangerous weapons – making it harder for those items to end up in the wrong hands. The proposed legislation includes big penalties for retailers who breach the new laws.

Major construction has started on Downer’s new manufacturing facility near Maryborough. 65 passenger trains will be built here, supporting hundreds of local jobs. We’re bringing train manufacturing home – because Queenslanders make it best. #trains

The first tenants have moved into these new social homes in Yeppoon. We built the 14-apartment complex to help ease housing pressures in Central Queensland. They’re designed to be more accessible to the elderly and people with a disability, with features like wider hallways and doors. These are part of thousands and thousands of homes delivered as part of our Big Build, with many more on the way. Because everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
Kidston in Far North Queensland is the first new pumped hydro project in Australia in 40 years! We’re connecting it to the Queensland SuperGrid as part of our Big Build.
