🙏🏽🕊️❤️🩹 My family is Jewish. I have learned much about the extraordinarily difficult history marrying into these people culture who I have found to be the most loyal, generous to give back and intelligent people. Since the terrorist attack my heart has hurt in a way I can not describe. To see the ignorance and hate from people has been astonishing. To see the silence and rationalization has been shocking. Our children are watching how we handle the evil in our world. I found these articles and this explanation around the history of Israel to be impactful, insightful and worth sharing. The second is an article absolutely worth reading and sharing by @yasmohammedxx and @realbassemeid especially if you are liberal. The last pic is a video you’d need to look up about the history of Israel and the many attempts at trying to create peace in the Middle East. He’s brash at first because he is outraged, but it is worth looking past that. It is very informative as much of the social images and information are misinformation pushed out by bots and trolls to try and scare people into silence. Context and history are very important to really understand this ongoing conflict. Link at bottom of post. I didn’t want to have to share this again today; but I have to. For those who aren’t familiar, this is a beautiful portrait by Yoel Judowitz, inspired by the original photo taken by Rachel Posner in Germany, in 1932. She captured this soul-stirring moment when she saw her family’s menorah set up on a windowsill; in the background, directly opposite the menorah, is a building draped with Nazi flags. The photo is astonishing; the contrast transcends words. But what took my breath away was the short note she wrote on the back of her photo: “Death to Judah,” the flag says – “Judah will live forever!” the light answers. * When my wife goes to work in the city each morning, she sees the buildings across from her office draped in Palestinian flags, giant signs stating “From the River to the Sea…,” and endless examples of a world that is implicitly calling for the death of all Jews. And when my friends take the train to work, they get looks of disgust from people they’ve never met. It’s a scary time to be a Jew; but it’s also a special time to be a Jew.
