Brittany Packnett Instagram – Knowing this, the US was the only country in the council to vote against a #ceasefire.

China, France, the Russian Federation, Albania, Brazil, Ecuador, Gabon, Ghana, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland, The United Arab Emirates all voted for an immediate ceasefire.

The UK abstained.

Over 15,000 dead Palestinians, collapsing aid, unreturned Israeli hostages and Palestinian political prisoners, and no end to the violence in sight.

And the US. voted. no.

Take that in.

The @unitednations is warning of the high risk of the collapse of the humanitarian support system in Gaza and anticipates that it will lead to the breakdown of public order and increase pressure for the mass displacement into Egypt.
Brittany Packnett Instagram – 🚨🚨CEASEFIRE NOW—ACTIONS BELOW:

today and tomorrow @wizard_bisan1 and others in Gaza have called for a global strike.

Why? Because tomorrow(12/12), the UN general Assembly is likely to vote on a draft resolution for a humanitarian ceasefire during a special session called by Egypt and Mauritania. (Source: Reuters) While this text would be non-binding, it could be both a refute to the failed UNSC demand for a resolution (vetoed by the US) and aid the path forward to a permanent ceasefire. (source: UN Press, ReliefWeb)

Why do we need a ceasefire? It should be clear to us, but in case it is not…Just watch the clip of @aymanm above, breaking down the level of devastation and human toll on Gaza—which has already surpassed figures of the Allied Forces against Germany in 2 years of WWII.

Remember: if anyone says this is a “surrender to Hamas,” that is a lie. A bilateral ceasefire is required a ceasefire from EVERYONE. From Israel AND Hamas. This accounts for Palestinian AND Israeli lives. Reports are that the language of tomorrow’s draft closely reflects the UNSC resolution brought by the UAE, which “would have also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, as well as ensuring humanitarian access.”

IF YOU CAN STRIKE, STRIKE.

IF YOU CANT STRIKE because you and your family depend on those wages, here are other actions you can take to put the world on notice by impacting the bottom line, via @lsarsour & @tamikadmallory:

“Go to work if you must, but don’t spend money with major corporations and brands – online or in person. Pack a lunch. Drink coffee, tea etc from local businesses like a street vendor or local store.
Clearly, in order for this to be effective, it needs to happen more than once. Let’s do what we can today and continue to escalate over time!”
