Rosalynn Carter will forever be remembered as the embodiment of a life lived with purpose. I’m grateful for more than 40 years of her friendship and thinking today of President Carter, her family, and all the many people who loved her.

I’m a Dandelion—and maybe you’re one too. In the run-up to the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, join me in holding leaders accountable and commit to urgent climate action.
Women around the world are pushing for change—and where women lead, action follows.
I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of my friend Dr. Gao Yaojie, who faced house arrest and exile from China after exposing a blood transfusion program that spread HIV/AIDS. She was simply one of the bravest people I’ve ever known.
My special guest for this season’s finale of my podcast, You And Me Both, hardly needs an introduction.
Join me and Bill for an installment of a conversation we’ve been having together for over 50 years. This week’s topics: the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, navigating the climate crisis, and finding hope in unexpected places. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

The UN Declaration of Human Rights turns 75 today.
It took monumental effort to create the declaration in the aftermath of World War II.
In 2023, it’s more essential than ever.

Wishing you and yours a happy and delicious Thanksgiving!
I recently saw, and loved, @purliebway on Broadway. This show is funny and joyous—and it ends its run Feb. 4, so don’t wait to get your tickets.

I had the best time with Patti LuPone, Amber Ruffin, and a sold-out audience in New York City at the first-ever live taping of You and Me Both. We laughed, we cried, and we sang—thankfully, mostly Patti for that last one.

America should have the best health care in the world. But we don’t—especially since Trump’s Supreme Court ripped away the reproductive freedom of millions of people last year. I spoke to Dr. Yashica Robinson, an OB-GYN in Alabama, about how she’s fighting to get her patients access to care and why she can’t give up hope in the face of relentless opposition. Listen to our full conversation on the latest episode of You And Me Both, available wherever you get your podcasts.
Extreme heat kills more people than any other climate disaster and impacts every region on earth. I was glad for the opportunity to talk about it—and how women are part of the solution—at the United Nations Climate Change Conference earlier this week.
As is so often the case when it comes to climate disasters, the burden of the crisis of extreme heat disproportionately falls on women.
Globally, women represent 80 percent of climate refugees. When women are displaced, they are at increased risk of violence, human trafficking, and stalled education and employment opportunities. They are also more likely to die in natural disasters. Millions also risk losing access to contraception and the bodily and economic freedom it provides.
All of that is why the @ClintonGlobal Initiative and the @AtlanticCouncil have partnered with the Self Employed Women’s Association to create a Climate Resilience Fund.
Women, especially women in the global south, are rarely given the credit they deserve as essential drivers of change.
But when they have access to resilience funds–or electric mini grids or clean cook stoves or solar panels–it has a transformative impact.

Sometimes, when the world gets to be too much, you have to sing about it—especially if you’re Patti LuPone. Hear the full performance in the latest episode of You And Me Both.
Thank you to the Arsht-Rock Resilience Center and @AtlanticCouncil for keeping the focus on how gender-responsive policies must be at the center of climate action. I had a wonderful conversation with Global Chief Heat Officer Eleni Myrivili and SEWA Director Reema Nanavaty about what gender justice means in the face of climate impacts. #COP28
