Julia Michaels Instagram – This wish was the first song I wrote for wish in 2020. It was the song that started my entire journey here. I wrote it at the height of the pandemic when everything felt so uncertain and so scary. I had moved back to iowa then and was going through so many personal things at the time. Honestly, When I look back on all of it now (and for those who know what those personal things were) it all feels so serendipitous to me. I was given an opportunity to write a song about hope at a time when I really needed some of my own. I’ll never forget when Tom called me a couple weeks after I had sent it in.. my mom next to me.. in the dead of winter in iowa.. melting to the floor and uncontrollably crying when they called me and told me they were going to take this chance on me. Because of this song. It’s still surreal. This song means so much to me. Wish means so much to me.
