Happy episode 4 of Mare on @hbomax tonight! Want to shout out Meghan Kasperlik (@mkcostumes ) for creating the MOST fun costumes with an absolutely mind-boggling attention to detail. (Look at this french fry hat. The patches!) Like, you never see the pins on my docs but they’re there! Being on set was just constantly geeking out over the level of detail of every single department’s work. I mean, the set decoration! It’s all so good!

#Repost @justiceforgeorgenyc ・・・ In the last eleven months we have carried his image on signs and chanted his name in the streets. All in the name of another Black life that mattered. We’ve said this before, but the thing about martyrdom is that sometimes in the whirlwind and magnitude of a cause we lose sight of the life that sparked it. So today as we come out once more, we do so because George’s life mattered. We do so not just for a broader call to action that carries on, but for his humanity. For the life he lost. For his family and friends who’ve had to bear the unimaginable pain of the last eleven months and particularly these past three weeks of trial. We do so for George. 🖤 If you’d like to continue supporting the Floyd family, follow The George Floyd Memorial Foundation (@justiceforgeorge) and his brother, one of NYC’s own, Terrence Floyd (@mr_floyd_nyc_connection) and his org @wearefloydinc • • • (My words now:) Nothing will ever give Gianna Floyd her daddy back. Nothing will give his family and friends their cousin, boyfriend, brother back. This will always be a horror and tragedy. But I hope they feel a little more peace than they did yesterday. This story is not and cannot be about the condemnation of “one bad apple.” We must radically change the systems that enabled Derek Chauvin to murder George Floyd, that make it historic Chauvin was actually punished. As @drjasonpolitics just said on MSNBC, a win would have been George Floyd not being murdered in the first place. #justiceforgeorgefloyd #blacklivesmatter #defundthepolice

The Israeli journalist and Haaretz contributor Amira Hass speaking with @democracynow . I cannot stop thinking about what is happening in Gaza. I cannot imagine the depth of pain experienced by anyone—Palestinian, Israeli, or other—who has lost loved ones or lived in fear for their family’s and their own safety these last weeks. I so truly believe each individual life is whole and unique and irreplaceable. And right now our US govt is nearly lockstep in blind support of the Israeli government’s campaign of slaughter, siege, and displacement. If you’re feeling torn about whether there’s some way this bombardment might be justifiable, I really encourage you to check out Josh Paul’s resignation letter. He spent 11 years at the bureau that oversees arms transfers to foreign nations, and resigned this week in protest of sending arms to |srael. In the letter he details how “American support for the status quo of the occupation will only lead to more and deeper suffering for both the Israeli and Palestinian ppl”, and how the legal guardrails we have in place to keep arms out of the hands of “human rights violators” are failing. I hope for a world in which all live in safety, and with dignity and self-determination. #ceasefire #ceasefirenow @kirstengillibrand @senschumer @patryanforcongress @repdangoldman
Highlight of my 2023 has def been volunteering in my local Audobon’s rehab clinic! Pictured is an eastern bluebird release, porcupine who fell from a tree (buh ❤️), and kestrel nestling! Grateful to be able to learn from amazing pros! Don’t try this at home 🙂 happy summer!
