Very late to posting this. But in case you missed it, I finally got to sit and chat with my old pal @daxshepard and the loveliest @mlpadman for one of my favorite podcasts @armchairexppod. I’ve been listening and a fan from day one. I feel so very tender and thankful for the loving space they both held for our chat. I would like to take a moment to express my excitement and utter delight that @drewbarrymore has her own talk show. That we get to hear all her wisdoms and perspectives on life, business and friendships. We get to learn alongside her and be inspired by all her curiosities and passionate thirst for knowledge on myriad subjects.
In the short time I had the absolute the gift of working with her, I learned so much. She inspired and lifted me up and reminded me of my worth. It’s what she does so naturally with any and all women in her orbit.
I used to be so scared and uncomfortable in my skin. I was someone who judged women who were free and lacked inhibition. It was something I didn’t understand and something I envied deeply. Women who were considered a ‘wild card’ because I grew up being embarrassed of my mother who was, in fact, a wild card. I was too focused on wishing she were like everyone else’s moms to see how lucky I was to have a mother that was a free spirit who didn’t care what anyone thought of her. She was free and fun and full of joy and excitement no matter the circumstance. She was a survivor.
Now, some of my favorite women in the world are my wild cards. We should all aspire to be our most wildest card. One who lives life to the fullest, loves everyone around her as fully as she possibly can with every ounce of love her heart can give. With that comes a big risk of many heartbreaks throughout her life but oh the stories she will tell… Lest we forget the collateral beauty that is the result of heartbreak; the empathy, the wisdom, the compassion, the grace…
Goodness I love a wild card.
Drew taught me that.

My friends @ifawglobal deployed (at the invitation of North Valley Animal Disaster Group) to the North Complex Fires.
Just yesterday the team found Pippa – she was separated from her family and alone. They rescued and cared for her and she’s being reunited with her humans.
Thank you @ifawglobal for being on the ground and making stories like this possible.
