Naomie Harris Instagram – When I say I am an actor people tend to say “what an exciting profession to be part of!”, and it is! But, at times, it can also be an incredibly lonely profession as well.
On a film set you are constantly surrounded by an average of 50-90 people at all times. However, when the word ‘Action’ is called, ultimately all eyes are on the actor or actors; and it’s up to us to inhabit characters we might be wildly different from; and to feel an array of emotions from heart wrenching grief to ecstatic joy and everything in between. The weight of expectation to deliver, the pressure to not let the team down, and to turn on emotions at the drop of a hat can feel phenomenally lonely.
That’s why I’m supporting the @dcmsgovuk Better Health: Every Mind Matters loneliness campaign, because I know first hand that no matter how things might appear on the surface, inside someone can be hiding tremendous loneliness, and I want to encourage people to check on one another and make sure they’re OK.
