nothing that hasn’t been posted or shared already but the algorithm is blocking all of my p@lest!ne stories and the defeaning silence of my peers saying nothing about g@za makes me more and more emboldened to speak my support. i’m not a source for anything, please do your own research (between the black out and the media erasure/propaganda it takes extra leg work to get info directly from g@za, @eye.on.palestine is a good starting point), but at a moment when people are so silent it feels even more important to add our voices and names in support of p@lest!ne. also asian americans??!!?? hello??!!!? do we not all come from places that have experienced decades of colonization? do we not know this narrative very well? was it not so long ago that we were the ones asking for solidarity?? where are our voices now??!! this is the myth of the model minority at its worst. i can smell the fear. of pissing the wrong people off. of weighing the odds and choosing to align with the more powerful side. of course we can hold context and history. of course we know the oppressed can become the oppressor. of course we know people are not their governments. of course the answer never has been never will be anti-s3mit!sm. i’ve heard everyone say all of this BUT CAN WE NOT ALSO SAY FREE P@LEST!NE?!!!!

i keep hearing people say what’s happening in g*za is “too complex” to comment on. it’s true, there are many aspects of this conflict that are incredibly long and complex but there are also aspects of this conflict that are extremely not complicated. like our global responsibility to call for an immediate c3asef!re. like our naming that what is happening in g*za is a gen0cide — the most thoroughly documented gen0cide in the history of humankind, one that is directly funded by US tax dollars. like our recognition that the incessant b*mbing of hospital after hospital after hospital to the point of collapsing g*za’s entire medical infrastructure and the murder of 11,000 civilians (nearly 5,000 of which are children) and the displacement of 1.5 million p*lestin*ans has nothing to do with “self defense” (or an attempt to safely return h*stages) and everything to do with occupying more land. i am disgusted by the pr0paganda and misinformation peddled out by western media. i am confused by the willful ignorance and silence of people in the industry i work in. we call ourselves artists. we claim to be storytellers and creatives. people with strong hearts and curious minds who digest and reflect on the human condition with the most important tool we have, our voice. this is not a time for artists to be silent. every day i see a new image, hear a new stat that is burned into my brain forever. every day i try to think of an angle for how to open someone’s heart to care for g*za. all the information in the world is available to you, please find the entry point you need into caring about this. @jvp.la action in hollywood tomorrow at 2:30pm. follow their page for updates if you’re in LA or @jewishvoiceforpeace if you’re not. follow @motaz_azaiza @wizard_bisan1 @byplestia for daily updates on what is happening in g*za. #ceasefire

going on main cuz i’m still thinking about @thesoniag’s words from the artist teach-in for p🍉lest!ne that @withbianca_ & @ashluka organized two days ago in partnership with @palestinianyouthmovement @uscpr and @jewishvoiceforpeace . i’m really holding onto the importance of building communal courage and not losing focus. the opposite of despair and hopelessness is organization and focus. i was reminded (by my therapist! i love her!) that all it takes is 3.5% of a population supporting a movement to create significant and lasting cultural and political change. feeling more grounded as i remember that number: 3.5%. some of the work is about moving the needle for certain people, but much more of the work is about building with the people who are already there. grateful to the friends and orgs who remind me of this every day. 💗
