“I have always tied my self-worth to external validation because I never excelled at anything. I was always mediocre at everything, and maybe that’s why I kept seeking validation. In fact, till The White Tiger happened, I was very unconfident as an actor. That film helped me immensely in believing in myself and my strengths as an actor, and it gave me all the confidence I needed as an actor.” Spotted performing at a festival in Mumbai, Adarsh Gourav bagged his first role as an actor — the role of young Rizwan in My Name is Khan — after hundreds of auditions. And how did this come to be? Simply because someone asked if he’d like to act and 12-year-old Adarsh said yes, excited to see himself on screen! And that’s how the actor’s journey began, serendipitously, much like several other things in his life.
