Happy birthday Caleb 🤍🕊️ #cr13legacyplunge Nice to do a plunge in a place that always reminds me of Caleb. One thanksgiving when we were younger, his family joined in on our tradition, and it was a beautiful thanksgiving weekend. I see his spirit in every sunrise and sunset here. Remember to find any body of water you’ve got and film yourself jumping in using #cr13legacyplunge ! The more awareness we raise, the more people can be helped by Caleb’s legacy!
Today I’d like to talk to you guys about my friend, Caleb Reimer. Caleb and I met playing hockey together when we were 8 or 9 years old, and were best friends for a couple years while playing on the same teams together. As we grew up and went to different schools and down different paths, we weren’t able to stay in touch as much as before, but I still considered him a long time friend and on multiple occasions he was there for me when I needed help or advice. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2021, Caleb was involved in a car crash that took not only his own life, but also the lives of two other boys with whom I grew up playing hockey. This October 9th would’ve been Caleb’s 19th birthday, and his family has decided that they’d like to do something to honour his memory. So we’ve come up with the #cr13legacyplunge . On October 9th, whether it’s a pool, a river, a lake, or an ocean, we’re asking anyone willing to take a video of themselves jumping into the water and post it using #cr13legacyplunge in order to raise awareness of Caleb’s story and memory. Caleb was an elite level hockey player, and at only 16 years old had secured a spot on the roster of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, a feat which “impressive” doesn’t even begin to describe. The Reimers feel that the best way to honour his memory would be to give young people opportunities in sports that they otherwise would not have had, allowing them to pursue life with the same passion that Caleb did. All donations to the CR Legacy Project will go towards this goal of honouring Caleb’s memory and building his legacy by giving youth these special opportunities.
