I’m embarrassed to post this but my wife says honesty and rawness got me this far … I’ll post a more complete thought about this when I get my head together. I just never would’ve imagined
I’ll try to make this short . When I was growing up Nashville was a really small town. Like 1/6 of what it is now. And even though Nashville was a party town even back then , we didn’t have a big New Years Eve scene when I was a kid. And my daddy would always say “we don’t go out and drink with the amateurs on holidays” so we always stayed in, and back then especially, just like the rest of the world our eyes would be glued to BALL in Time Square. I have literally watched dozens of Dick Clark’s Rocking New Years Eve. Even a few of New Years that Bunnie and I have been together we gave watched this show . And both talked about how much it meant to our childhood. To get the call to not only be a participant in it but to also be able to bring my family was something I will cherish forever . I got to watch the Ball drop in the middle of Time Square standing next to my Daughter, Wife , Ryan Seacrest and LL Cool J on National Television. Things I never even dreamed could happen. What a beautiful night. Happy New Years Everybody . My prayer is we all act out of more love and compassion this year.

Growing up in Tennessee Dolly Parton was right there next to Jesus, Lynyrd Skynyrd and College Football. Having an opportunity to just express my gratitude for everything Dolly did for my family , music and Tennessee was a blessing . Many of nights we sat around the kitchen table and listen Dolly Parton. And just like the queen she is , Dolly dropped a new album today called Rockstar because she said if she was going to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame she needed to earn it. Everything I’ve ever learned about how to do interviews in the music business and how to carry myself I’ve learned from Watching Dolly Parton. This is UNREAL!
I have so much I wanna say and so many people I want to thank you to but for now I just want to say Thank Y’all for the love I’ve received today. Im overwhelmed with the comments , the posts , the shares, the text message and emails. On country musics biggest night I was blessed with 60 seconds to tell the world how I felt and I’m honored that 60 seconds inspired somebody somewhere. I write songs and sing them for a living and right now I celebrate having the number 1 song on Country Radio with my sister Lainey Wilson. God is incredible – thanks for all the love . My wife was waiting for me with my daughter , niece, nephew in law and of course all the dogs when I got home at midnight last night to sing me happy birthday- WHAT A YEAR!

As long as I remember , running in and out of bars on Demonbreun Street (everywhere between the old McFaddens and legendary Tin Roof) I remember the Nashville Scene being on the stands and how prestigious it was to be in the Nashville Scene. It always felt like where all the hip and current things are. To be on the cover of it is special to me as a hometown kid. I’ve been blessed to be on the cover of Billboard, Pollstar, Music Row and the Nashville Scene this year and I don’t take any of those honors for granted – I am grateful- thank y’all, this year has been unreal .
