John Gallagher Jr. Instagram – When we reached the bittersweet end of our world premiere run of @sweptawaymusical at @berkeleyrep in March of 2022, we were all so very hopeful for a remount somewhere at some point but there weren’t any plans in place and 39 years on planet earth and 24 years in the theater have taught me not to hold my breath because you just never know. So I waited. And now here we are. Thus I do not take it at all for granted how lucky we are to be opening the east coast bow of Swept Away tonight at @arenastage in D.C. Exactly 2 years to the day that I got on a plane to head to Berkeley to start rehearsals for our last go around. This thing came and found me at a time when I didn’t realize how desperately I needed it. Thank you to every single person who has made it possible for us to keep sharing this piece with audiences. Happy opening shipmates. I love you all. ⚓️
