I put everything I had into Killers of the Flower Moon, and I was blessed to work with so many remarkable people at every stage. It took a long time to bring it to the screen. Now I just want people to see it, to absorb it, to be with it.

Iranian filmmaker, Saeed Roustayi, has been sentenced to six-months in prison on charges of “anti-regime propaganda activity” for screening his film, LEILA’S BROTHERS at the prestigious 2022 Cannes International Film Festival. He’s set to serve nine days and the rest of the sentence “will be suspended for over five years,” according to the Iranian daily Etemad and Radio Free Europe. During that time, he will effectively be prohibited from filmmaking and required to take a filmmaking course for the sake of “preserving national and ethical interests.”
LEILA’S BROTHERS was banned after it “broke the rules by being entered at international film festivals without authorization,” and the director refused to “correct” it as requested by the culture ministry, official media said at the time.
We now have less than 20 DAYS to help garner enough attention to appeal his sentence.
Please sign and share the petition in my bio seeking justice for Roustayi, so he can continue to be a force of good in the world.
His voice needs to be heard.

Robbie Robertson was one of my closest friends, a constant in my life and my work.
I could always go to him as a confidante. A collaborator. An advisor. I tried to be the same for him.
Long before we ever met, his music played a central role in my life—me and millions and millions of other people all over this world. The Band’s music, and Robbie’s own later solo music, seemed to come from the deepest place at the heart of this continent, its traditions and tragedies and joys.
It goes without saying that he was a giant, that his effect on the art form was profound and lasting.
There’s never enough time with anyone you love. And I loved Robbie.
Praying for the people of Morocco and their beautiful country.
Edgar Wright and I always have a great time when we get together and talk about movies. This time we got to do it in public. Great night in London.

Killers of the Flower Moon was a movie that I had to make, a story that I had to tell. The Osage Reign of Terror is a true American tragedy, and the fact that the story was not widely known before the publication of David Grann’s book only deepened the feelings of betrayal, neglect and distrust in the Osage community. I would never have even considered making this picture without the cooperation and trust of the Osage community. They welcomed us in Oklahoma, and we began a remarkable collaboration that has never ended. I wanted to make a picture that belonged to all of us, working together. I hope that I succeeded.
Tickets for Killers of the Flower Moon are now on sale. In theaters everywhere October 20.
