Animal Lovers! I really quite liked ‘Animal.’ Ofcourse like any discerning viewer one would always have an opinion on parts of a film or its length but nobody can deny the fact that Animal is one of the most ballsy & disruptive films to have come out in recent times and a bloody entertaining one. We display a certain intellectual arrogance or oversimplify matters when we state that “we don’t know where this nation is going if it has liked ‘Animal”. As if everyone would just make it into a Bumper Hit because of half a sex scene, or another two where a man could be showing down a woman because the filmmaker visualises the scenario as such. Chords don’t hit or touch with scenes so few & far in between to make it into the mammoth hit that it has become. It is obvious that the whole film and each and every character in it has touched the largest section of the audience in a way that no other film has been able to capture in recent memory. If not it would have never acquired the near cult status that it has now reached. Its almost like God orchestrated this near perfect Success Story for all involved in it. @sandeepreddy.vanga ‘s gait is as unassuming & simple. His humility as endearing & heartening inspite of the colossus he now sits on. (No he wasn’t pretending.) As I watched & listened to him gushing to @anuragkashyap10 about each film in detail directed by the latter along with complete scene references, dialogues & even it’s minutest technical aspects, one instantly knows where Vanga got his training from. He borrowed from every film maker, every genre, every decade of Indian cinema and turned it into his own flamboyant & disruptive artform. He is as maverick as he is fearless & I shall be eagerly waiting for his next outing.
