Robert Gant Instagram – At the beginning of the year, there is, of course, considerable focus on how to go about making use of this time — for example, by setting a trajectory for the year and such. And it can be very valuable to do that. It’s also important to stay relatively detached from the outcome of the visions we’ve set. Meaning, once we’ve identified something to go for and are going for it in the way we choose to, then whatever shows up and what it ends up looking like specifically is okay, at least in the big scheme of things. We take the actions and surrender the results, knowing we’ll have the opportunity to course correct as we go by taking stock of the results and responding accordingly. It’s key, though, especially for us LGBTQ folks, to keep resisting the idea that the stuff outside of us, or the circumstances we’re in, are the determiners of our value.
