I still view it as the greatest gift I could have ever been given.
From a young age, it instilled in me a deep appreciation of inclusivity and open-mindedness. I always noticed when someone went the extra mile to make me feel included and valued, or when they showed a genuine interest in my perspective on things.
These were often just small exchanges, the likes of which I am sure most people wouldn’t even remember – but each one undoubtedly shaped my perspective on the type of leader that I would want to be someday.
They taught me that differences should be celebrated, that every individual’s unique background is a strength, and that to create an environment in which everyone is welcomed is to create a powerhouse.
