I posted Beyonce’s response to this video yesterday, but here’s the actual video! My second viral video! I had JUST moved to LA from NYC, and I had no friends….so I went and spoke to the dance department at AMDA and made some friends there that would go on to help me create many more videos! I posted on Craigslist that we were planning a flash mob and some cops submitted so they could get the rehearsal info. They showed up and tried to shut our video down. They said flash mobbing was illegal, so we pretended to “cancel” our flash mob and switched to a different location. I have never been more afraid to shoot something in my life. The stakes were so high, but we did it and not only did we not get in trouble, @target then hired me to do several projects including a live music video with @gwenstefani! Moral of the story is, don’t break the law unless it’s for the queen lol Also, several of the ppl in the video have gone on to do incredible things. @jakekodish went on to be a huge choreographer and dance for T-Swift, Big Brother legend @davonnedianne_ and drag race superstar @kornbreadthesnack were also in the step section!

This used to be my biggest pet peeve; that every time we’re leaving the house he wants to take a selfie of our outfits, but now I kinda love it…but shhhh 🤫 Don’t tell him that. Every time I’m overwhelmed by the industry, and on the verge of giving up, I watch this video on repeat. I remember moving to LA not knowing anyone, and deciding that I should do a flash mob to Beyonce’s “End of Time!” This was my favorite song on the album, and I was so confused as to why there was no video. I now know it was because she got pregnant, but at the time I was like well us fans must do everything we can do to promote this album. I hoped and prayed that she’d see my video, but not only did she see it, she uploaded this video and honestly this endorsement changed my life. I remember my phone going off and I was getting so many notifications that I couldn’t even move them in time to open the phone for a good solid five minutes, which felt like an eternity at the time. Everyone I knew was frantically calling texting DM-ing, etc. saying “Beyonce saw your video!” I’ve never seen her do anything like this for a fan before or since my video was made, and it’s some thing I’ll never forget as long as I live. I LOVE this woman and thank you @tytryone for showing my video to the Queen!

Feeling very grateful, I talk to you all about this from time to time, but this journey of being a black/queer artist has been unimaginably difficult…and when people pass judgement on mistakes they think I’ve made, the fact that I’m black and queer and that this has essentially been uncharted territory for most people like me doesn’t cross their mind.
I’m so excited to absolutely tear up every stage I step on this pride season. Last year, I had lost a tad of faith in myself and was ready to give up, but I’m back y’all. Loving the new music, sooo many cool projects, meetings and opportunities on the horizon, my team has never been stronger, my mind has never been more creative, my drive has never been this fueled, I’m so excited to tell you all everything and thank you to each and everyone of you who has stuck it out with me over the past 2 years. I love you all soooooo much! Can’t wait to announce where my first pride will be!!! San Juan, Puerto Rico, Caribbean
