4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work.
It was a busy week this week with lovely things. Nothing fancy, but my favourite things: family, friends and spending a night away with Nick.
1. Sunday lunch with friends @aarti.parmar and @hp7575 So good to catch up, and share thoughts and visions for 2024!
2. Had a lie in with @teddymcfeen for company. Just looking at his little face literally fills me with joy.
3. The face of proud mum and step dad. We went to see Amy in a college show. 🤩🥰
4. It’s Christmaaaaasssss!!! I wish I could leave these up all year round, they’re so pretty. 🎄

Staying calm at Christmas is nigh on impossible. And sometimes bubble baths and candles just won’t cut it. My solution? A made-up errand, head out in the car and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
You’re welcome. 😊

Oh. My. Goodness.
What a BRILLIANT night! Thank you @concordemedialondon @paramountuk for the invitation to tonight’s screening of Mean Girl. I LOVED IT! Go go go see it.

You are probably going to get divorced. 😱
Statistics say around 50% of marriages fail, and the numbers are pretty much the same no matter where you are in the world.
Today is the busiest day of the year for divorce lawyers, which is why our podcast guest today is the world’s leading Divorce Coach Sara Davison, who specialises in supporting people through this really challenging time.
We discuss how it works, what the most common reasons are for calling it quits, and how both the people who help you out, and the people who never call, are never who expect in this time of crisis.

4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work.
I’m aware that I haven’t done my #4things for a while, so I thought I’d start again today. It’s made me realise that my work / fun balance is way out of kilter in terms of what is deemed ‘instagramable’, but I like being cosy at home watching telly when it’s cold outside! I figure if it makes me happy it all counts.
1. So, I did do one fancy thing this week – we went to the screening of ‘Mean Girls’ as a family, and it was great! The film was just brilliant, I loved it. And the party side of the event was so good, the girls loved it, and I enjoyed watching them love it.
2. We watched Saltburn last night. Oh. My. Goodness. Watch it IMMEDIATELY!! It is just so good, every single person is excellent, it’s been brilliantly cast, it’s tight, pacy, gripping, beautiful to watch, has you on the edge of your seat until the final, fabulous scene. @keoghan92 (Barry Keoghan) is spectacular.
3. This week I INHALED ‘Fool Me Once’ the drama series. @michkeegan (Michelle Keegan) is just fantastic in it. Great plot, lots of twists. Keeps you gripped. Loved it.
4. I only went on a few dog walks this week, (Nick has stepped up to the plate with this, he’s good in the cold) but the one day looked so pretty. We both stopped to admire the sun going down over our local pond. There’s something so calming about being near water that I really love.
And that’s it for this week!
What have you done to fill your cup that had nothing to with work?

Sometimes in midlife we have change thrust upon us, as was the case for our guest, the brilliant @itsmehelenthorn , who found herself unexpectedly and heartbreakingly single just as the world went into lockdown in 2020.
Helen is one half of the award-winning comedy duo Scummy Mummies. She is also a Sunday Times Best Selling author with her book ‘Get Divorced, Be Happy’. In today’s episode we discuss the shock of unexpected change, and how resetting our attitude to find health and happiness can sometimes bring its own challenges.

How it started…
How it finished…
I don’t go out on NYE. Of course I have done, but it’s not really my ‘thing’. But this year we thought we’d start a new tradition and booked a 6pm sitting at @langansbrasserie We got dolled up, got the tube into town and had a lovely time. Then headed home and were in our comfies by 10pm, watching the night unfold on the telly, dog asleep on my lap.
@officialrickastley @rylan and @sharleenspiteri were bloody BRILLIANT tonight bringing in the new year.
I’m happy to do it all again next year if they are. 😄

This jar is one of our most treasured possessions, and the fact that it is full feels miraculous.
My sister started us on the tradition of writing down on coloured paper every little win we have as a family throughout the year. It doesn’t matter how small it may seem to anyone else, our motto is: “If it matters to you, it matters to us”, so we write it down and pop it in.
A few years ago, my wonderful This Girl Is On Fire community joined together to present me with this jar, and they filled it with all the positive changes they had seen themselves since joining me. To be honest, I cried my eyes out when I got it because it meant so much, and seeing this jar sitting in my kitchen waiting to be filled at the start of each year, knowing they gave it to me and had such faith in me, is a huge motivator for keeping going when things are tough.
This year has been one of our most challenging yet as a family; and it touched all of us, in every part our lives. We are not where we thought we would be.
The big, bold audacious goals we made over a year ago are nowhere to be seen…
And yet.
We survived. I am healthy and well. Our family is well. We made new plans and discovered new paths, and we are walking along those ones now. We love each other and are loved in return.
Our jar of little wins will be emptied today, and we will read them and remind ourselves of everything good that happened and the progress we made. I will collect them all and keep them in an envelope marked “2023 Jar” and put them with the others.
And tomorrow we start again.
Happy New Year to you, and may your 2024 jar be full.
#newyear
It’s that time of year again for our homage to our favourite Christmas movie ‘Elf’ starring @nickfeeneycoach as Buddy.
This was filmed and edited four years ago by my (then) 13 year old daughter Amy 😂
Merry Christmas one and all!
*and yes I was wearing a cozzie in the shower 🤩

What a lovely feel good afternoon 💙
#AD I know how much joy having a pet brings into the home – since adopting Teddy from Battersea four years ago, he’s not just a dog, he is part of our family. But at Christmas things can become a bit chaotic with lots of people around and our furry friends finding it stressful – I know that Teddy does!
That’s why I’ve teamed up with @pedigree_uk_official and @battersea on the Pedigree Relief Fund to help you have a stress-free holiday. There’s a couple of way we can help our little friends like:
😴Creating a quiet and safe space for them to escape visitors
🍗Being careful of harmful leftovers. Onions, garlic, dried fruit and leeks are all toxic to dogs
🍫Keeping chocolate out of reach – keep advent calendars & selection tins up high/in cupboards and be mindful of hanging choc decorations or choc gifts under the tree
🌿If you have plants like poinsettia, mistletoe, Ivy or Holly watch that they don’t get eaten or chewed because they can give dogs a bad belly
🎄Make sure decorations are properly secured and out of reach. Avoid leaving your pet in a room with lots of decorations when you are not at home
What do you find most stressful?
There’s plenty of other tips and tricks to help keep the stress away, so check out the Battersea website for more info.
Have a very Merry Christmas!🎄

Current view.
I love ‘The Holiday’. The village where it’s filmed in Surrey is GORGEOUS all year round but especially so at Christmas.

Yup. Just went to a Christmas charity pub quiz dressed as an elf and Bad Santa.
And we were the only ones who decided to go in fancy dress….
And I genuinely didn’t care, because we just wanted to have some fun! Which we did – thank you @childrenwithcanceruk for putting on the BEST night! It was like a lock in, in your favourite pub, with the best people, all raising money for a wonderful cause.
Same time next year @thefrothycoffeeman @jo_elvin ? #childrenwithcanceruk
5 Marriages, 4 Children, 3 Divorces, 2 Dogs, 1 Joint Effort at Mastering Midlife. No one gets it right all the time. Especially when it comes to relationships, parenting, step-parenting and general ‘adulting’… Join us in our BRAND NEW PODCAST 🥳 as we share our highs, lows and everything in between as we attempt to Master Midlife.
Our first episode is all about Surviving Christmas, which can be really difficult as a blended family, (which we are) so we are joined by the amazing family coach Jane Dockerill to talk us through solutions to sticking points, and how to navigate the challenges surrounding the first ever Christmas as a newly single parent.
We also cover the important stuff as well – like which of these saves us all from festive fury: watching telly or playing board games? And are dad jokes the antidote to dinner time dramas? You know, the big things.

4 things we did this week to fill our cup that had nothing to do with work.
Hi everyone, we didn’t take any photos this week so we’ve had to do a video roundup. This week:
1. Andrea: I went to see my mum sing in the Rock Choir at Waterloo station in London. My dad and I were in charge of coat holding and cheering. We did a great job.
2. We both went out to events this week that were part work, part socialising and met some lovely people which was great.
3. We took this weekend off. Completely off. Didn’t get dressed until tea time, watched half a rubbish Christmas film and fell asleep on the sofa. That kind of thing. I haven’t left the house all weekend. Perfect.
4. We had friends over for dinner and couldn’t be bothered to cook so ordered a takeaway. It was great because we could focus on the great company and conversation not cooking. Also perfect.
What did you do this week to fill your cup? #4things
