In 2020, Acadêmicos do Salgueiro showcased the art of Benjamin de Oliveira, Brazil’s first black clown. In the northern region of Rio de Janeiro, the Samba School from Tijuca sparked a crucial social reflection on education, art, and culture in Brazil through representation and black resistance during the parade. The tin soldier costume symbolizes the army allied with the Benjamins who resist in Brazil!
