2024 has long held a special place in my heart. When I was a rising magazine editor, I ran a campaign at CosmoGIRL Magazine called Project 2024. It was the year in which our youngest readers would be elligible to be President of The United States! It gives me chills to think about all those young women who are now crossing into their mid-30s and stepping fully into their power in the world! We interviewed the most powerful men and women in business and politics about their secrets of success so that our readers could follow in their footsteps. Project 2024 was a promise to those young women that they would inherit a future where EVERYTHING was possible. And I am still working every day to fulfill that promise for ALL women. The powerful work we are doing at TheLi.st to bring women and under represented leaders together to support each other’s success is part of that promise. The important research we are doing to uncover the roots of loneliness that are preventing women from stepping into greater positions of power is part of that promise. The initiative we are building to bring greater TOGETHERNESS into our lives so we can succeed to higher and higher heights is part of that promise. And while the reality of 2024 is different than the ideal we imagined back then, I am renewing that promise to help us all move closer to a future of possibility and a new dynamic of power that ensures we are all seen, supported and successful.
I have not been silent. I’ve been quiet. Focusing on the care of my family, friends and community. I’ve been thinking of all who are in fear, in pain, grieving. I am in solidarity with the people of Israel who are under attack, with concern for the people of Gaza who are under siege, and holding hope for peace for all. 💙
I had the honor of interviewing Barbara Walters when I was at CosmoGirl (swipe to see the thank you email she sent me—I keep it framed above my desk!). In that interview, Barbara’s said something that would become my mantra. I asked her What did you know now that you wish you knew when you were younger? She paused for a long beat and said “Don’t imagine your life now is the way it’s always going to be. You have no idea how interesting your life can be.” This is what we all need to remember—at every age. You have no idea what adventures are in store, what interesting turns are ahead, what opportunities you can unlock. Thank you Barbara for showing us how amazing a life can be. 🙏

How it started! My first Australia Day in 2009! This Aussie and I had been dating a little more than a year. He’d taken me to Australia a few months earlier, we moved in together just a week before this photo was taken. Over the next 14 Australia Days together we’d celebrate two new apartments, two new babies, a couple of new jobs, a new book, a new business…but still the same love. This is what I meant when I talk about eyes lighting up!❤️🇦🇺 Cheers to the year ahead!

You don’t have to tell us the answer, but how often do you feel lonely, isolated or disconnected in your job? For me, my highest career moments have also been my loneliest. It feels weird to say here where we’re all high-fives and filtered wins. But it’s true. I often felt competition from colleagues, weirdness from family, and dating was The Worst. My company, @theli_st has joined forces with @berlincameron @bsginsights for a research study on the impact on women’s work, relationships and health. The results are 🤯😳🤯😳 and I can’t wait to share them with you. If you’re at @sxsw next week, please join me for an event to talk about the Loneliness problem and the TOGETHERNESS Solution! Link in bio. And pls share! 🙏🙏

Every New Year’s Day, I watch @imisaacmizrahi Unzipped—at the core, it’s a movie about finding inspiration, reinventing yourself, achieving the impossible, celebrating your roots, finding joy from friends and support from your team. Plus it’s part of the fashion fairy tale that made me want to be in magazines (when those were a thing. 🙃). I hope you’re finding your inspiration, joy and support for the year ahead! ❤️ #newpower #togetherness
Wishing everyone love, light and latkes! Happy Hanukkah!
