Deepika Padukone Instagram – As one of Bollywood’s most successful contemporary actors, #DeepikaPadukone has racked up a filmography of over 40 movies in the last 16 years. Beyond iconic Hindi titles and a Hollywood debut, under her film production company Ka, she produced and starred in ‘Chhapaak’, a powerful social drama in which she played the role of an acid attack survivor. This was a film guided neither by commercial value nor global prominence, but a project that was firmly rooted in Padukone’s desire to highlight the prevalence of these attacks. “Everything that I do has to be meaningful. I have never been excited by fame, money or power. What excites me is intangible energy that allows you to do so much more. In my younger days, I couldn’t explain it entirely. But today, I have come to realise that films allow you to achieve a higher purpose,” shares the star.
