Denise Boutte Instagram – Anyone remember the infamous “dancing baby”? This meme made its debut in 1988 and commonly known as the birth of AI. About a decade later, Baby Cha-Cha made its TV debut on “Ally McBeal” and became a modern day phenomenon.
Backstory…
So B4 Divine Intervention led me to Cali, I was an Advertising Exec. in an industry that immediately recognized the implications of this, not so baby of a tech breakthrough. That’s why it’s beyond hard to understand why some folks are making AI out to be some sort of Boogie man that came outta nowhere. The moment that baby danced onto that screen, folks should have been figuring out how to put proper guardrails in place.
Here’s the deal…. Technology evolves, gets better with time & Unions are paid by their members to be
Proactive not reactive. To have their pulse on industry, instead of attempting to play catch up over 30 years later.
For nearly 4 months, so many amazing, hardworking entertainers & the productions, networks that supported them were silenced. Rules that put muzzles on our voices, preventing us from promoting, sharing the projects we poured our hearts into and acknowledging the beautiful, hardworking talents we worked alongside.
On a personal note, 2023 Blessed me with several amazing opportunities, 2 of which I feel are some of my strongest work, fueling my desire, excitement to promote & shout from the rooftops! Instead, thanks to the strike… Silence. If a machine like Barbie or an Oppenheimer, the talent’s voices are not as necessary for the “work begets work” policy to matter but for us, it’s everything.
So why the trip down memory lane now?
Not a fan of chaos and chose to unplug from 4 months of noise & let the dust settle. Now time to get the baggage off my chest so I could stop being salty, pay my union dues 🤭 and focus on doing the work that I 💖
So here we go…. onward & upward!!!! Here’s to an Amazing year of abundant Peace, Love & Blessings 🙏🏾
