My testimony….. After exiting a casting director’s office (lots of fellow actors know her, so she’ll remain nameless) I walked into the lobby and as fate would have it Mr. Roundtree and I made eye contact. Obvious to him, I was on the verge of tears when he invited me to have a seat. Attentively, he listened as I explained how the CD had berated me in front of a packed room for not the first, second but 3rd time. This audition, sending me into the lobby to prep for a new character, then come back in. Broken, I told him it was time to cut my losses and walk away cause she was purposely trying to embarrass me. His reply… “You don’t go back you not only give her your power, you allow her to block your Blessing. Your growth. Now dry those eyes, march back in there and show her how strong & talented you are.” While I didn’t get the role, I did get a big ol hug from this Sweetheart I’d just met. Who would’ve imagined that years later, I’d have the honor of playing Shaft’s daughter on Meet the Browns.
