I’m asked all the time whether I’m actually driving this car onstage, and the answer is yes, I most certainly am. I’ve been collecting #classiccars for the past 28 years, mostly 1930s, 40s, and 50s cars, but this is my first 70s car. When I decided to do the show, it was always my fantasy to have a Liberace moment in the show! Big thanks to my #jubileetheater crew @horseshoevegas for all the extra work they put in for this extravagant moment, featuring @jettadore as #Liberace! And by the way, it does have #Swarovski hubcaps, and we are gearing up to crystallize the entire car, so prepare your eyeballs for that. 🤩

What an honor it was to be asked by @ditavonteese to design the makeup for her Las Vegas residency #DitaLasVegas ! I remember being a little boy and wanting to see the all of the showgirl shows in Vegas and being too young to go. Glitter? Feathers? Shiny things? Yes, please! The show is glamour overload with the Bob Mackie and Pete Menefee original costumes and some truly dazzling sets, props, and more eye candy than I could possibly imagine! To come up with a makeup look that honors Dita and her aesthetic, these glorious costumes, and the legacy that is Jubilee was indeed a career highlight. Nearly all of my first burlesque acts were done en #pointe. The birdcage, The Powder Compact, the Carousel Horse, and of course several striptease ballet acts and feather fan dances, all originally in colorful pointe shoes.
I’ve been obsessed with pointe shoes since I was a little girl. I’ve never been good at learning choreography in #ballet class, but I was a strong pointe dancer, out of pure desire.

I honestly wasn’t ready for how intense it was, passing over the top of the grand drape, from four stories above the stage.
Donn Arden sure did put the #Bluebells through their paces!
Since this initial ride, I’ve received kind and helpful advice from a few former #jubileeshowgirls
I have an immense amount of respect for #showgirls and showguys, especially all who performed in this spectacular room, which is loaded with incredible tricks no one would spend the money on on in this day and age, solely for the sake of beauty, glamour and fantasy.
I loved #Jubilee! so much, as many did. I am so honored to bring the spirit of it back, in a new way. It’s the tip of the iceberg 😉 of the #vintagevegas decadence that was once here every night for more than 40 years!
A few interesting facts about Jubilee:
It opened on July 31, 1981 at an initial cost of 10 million dollars. The costume budget alone was 4 million dollars, which is equivalent to about $12 million today. (The most oplulent costumes are back on stage as part of my show)
When it first opened, the cast had over 100 performers in it and there were 75 stagehands working on the show.
The feathered headdresses worn by the showgirls (and now showguys too!) weigh up to 35 pounds.
The costumes worn in the Grand Jewel Box Finale tribute to Florenz #Ziegfeld was designed by #BobMackie. There were 36 individual designs, each based on the jewel tones of amethyst, sapphire, emerald, and ruby.
When it closed in 2016, it was the longest-running production show in Las Vegas.
