Here’s a few exciting things you should know, my Chicklets!
1) I’ve updated the Rock Chick Nation totals! Last year, we raised more than $12,000 for our charities! We’re nearly to $200,000 total! That’s amazing!!! I’ve sent the checks and now we’re brainstorming fun new ways to raise money for our 2024 donations.

2) I’m going to try (with emphasis on “try” – I tend to get one-track-minded when I’m writing) to keep my online store open year ‘round.
I also think I’ve found a way to offer boxed sets without being up to my neck in books, ordering more books, stocking more books, updating the website with the new stocks of books (you get the picture).
Now, this will mean the boxed sets might be out of stock on occasion. But I hope it’s better that they’re in stock sometimes, than rarely.
3) I’m also going to try to blog more about all sorts of things. So keep your eye out for my new blog posts. I’ve got a couple brewing to write before I get stuck into writing (ahem…Jamie and Nora, I’m looking at you).

It’s Question of the Week time!
This week’s question comes from Tina Sparks Autry:
“How do you keep all your characters & timelines straight!?!?”
My answer:
Back in the day, when I only had 20-30 (40) books published, this was no sweat. My characters lived in my head (they still do, but 90+ books in, it’s crowded up there). I could pull anything for you if you asked me about it from the Rock Chick, Colorado Mountain, Dream Man, Fantasyland and Chaos series.
Then shit got real. HA!
Now, I take copious notes about all books and all series. Each hero or heroine (or future hero or heroine) has their own “bible” which includes everything from what they look like to sayings they have to what car they drive, past relationships, their history, how they take their coffee, EVERYTHING!
There are also “bibles” on places of business, timelines, things I need to remember for future books in the series, and more.
The earlier books did not have these copious notes. In order to bring you the bonus content for the Rock Chick books, Darius and Malia’s story, and start writing Avenging Angels, I spent months (and I mean months) reading that series, writing hundreds of pages worth of pertinent details on just about everything (I mean, the secondary characters file for these books alone is 23 pages long), organizing all this info and typing it out.
Shoo!
I hope to roll back to all my series and do this so I have it on hand for crossovers and…ahem…when I finally complete some series that have long needed that final book.
I will admit, I’ve made some mistakes along the way. It’s a crap-ton to keep on top of. But this new system of keeping very detailed notes helps tremendously.

I’m been sluffing off! It’s been ages since I’ve done this.
But it’s KA’s Question of the Week Time!
Today’s question is from Sonia Ojha:
“Weird question I know but do your books make YOU cry as much as your readers?”
My answer:
Well, I don’t know how much you cry, but I can tell you I absolutely cry while writing (and editing and rereading) my books. There are times I sob. I’m such a mess, I can barely continue typing (but I power through, I have to get the characters to a good place – I can’t rest unless I do).
The Black brothers (WILD FIRE and WILD WIND, particularly WILD WIND, Jagger’s story) utterly WRECKED me. A certain situation for Hale in FIGHTING THE PULL absolutely gutted me. Millie’s outburst in the Compound in WALK THROUGH FIRE tore me to pieces. The situation with Margo in THE SLOW BURN…the last mission of the Rifle Team in THE FARTHEST EDGE…Sadie’s “there’s no one to care” speech in ROCK CHICK REGRET…Sabre’s outburst during the family meeting in PERFECT TOGETHER…
I could go on.
And when I say this, I mean gulping, hiccoughing, sniveling, red face, runny nose, uncontrollable tears in these scenes.
So it’s safe to say…yeah. 😆😆 100%. My books make me cry.
But I want you to know, it’s an extraordinarily beautiful compliment that they make you feel that deeply. Thank you for giving that compliment to me.
