Kristen Ashley Instagram – I’m been sluffing off! It’s been ages since I’ve done this. But it’s KA’s Question of the Week Time! Today’s question is from Sonia Ojha: “Weird question I know but do your books make YOU cry as much as your readers?” My answer: Well, I don’t know how much you cry, but I can tell you I absolutely cry while writing (and editing and rereading) my books. There are times I sob. I’m such a mess, I can barely continue typing (but I power through, I have to get the characters to a good place – I can’t rest unless I do). The Black brothers (WILD FIRE and WILD WIND, particularly WILD WIND, Jagger’s story) utterly WRECKED me. A certain situation for Hale in FIGHTING THE PULL absolutely gutted me. Millie’s outburst in the Compound in WALK THROUGH FIRE tore me to pieces. The situation with Margo in THE SLOW BURN…the last mission of the Rifle Team in THE FARTHEST EDGE…Sadie’s “there’s no one to care” speech in ROCK CHICK REGRET…Sabre’s outburst during the family meeting in PERFECT TOGETHER… I could go on. And when I say this, I mean gulping, hiccoughing, sniveling, red face, runny nose, uncontrollable tears in these scenes. So it’s safe to say…yeah. 😆😆 100%. My books make me cry. But I want you to know, it’s an extraordinarily beautiful compliment that they make you feel that deeply. Thank you for giving that compliment to me. Until the next KAQW… Rock On!
