Children eating weeds, 1000 children already losing their legs and enduring amputations without anaesthesia. This is the daily living hell for the children of Gaza. I implored the Prime Minister to act to end this bloodshed. There must be an immediate ceasefire. #pmqs #politicslive #ukpolitics #gaza
On my way home after another very busy shift at my local A&E. NHS staff across the country agree that the winter pressures in our hospitals feel as though they are all year round and absolutely relentless at the moment. Many will be going home from work tonight, exhausted and broken. I’m really grateful to all the brilliant doctors, nurses and support staff that keep our hospitals going and the care and compassion with which they treat patients. You’re all heroes in my eyes. #NHS
I only went and bloody did it. A 6.30am ( yes you read that right ), spin class @cycleculturestudio in Tooting. Not gonna lie, I was up half the night worrying I’d not wake up in time, but I have been determined to challenge myself and 2024 is the time to make this happen. Sick tunes, great company and awesome post workout food and drink. All done by 7.30. Here’s me walking in chuffed as hell, bike 6 housed my tired butt for 45 mins, I have included a post workout sweaty pic as evidence and Paul ( who runs the place with his talented wife Mili), who took the actual class this morning! Exercise clears my mind and helps me be stronger to fight the good fight. What are you going to do for you in 2024? #mentalhealth

Thousands of innocent civilians, including children, have been killed and the Gazan population is being collectively punished. Israel has no right to decide Gaza’s future. That should be for a sovereign Palestinian state and Palestinians to decide.
I created this graphic to highlight the full horror of the situation in Gaza. Thank you to all the NGOs on the ground working so hard to keep us updated. They are risking their lives every day trying to save others. There is unprecedented strain on the population with a lack of food, water and medicine. Most of the population have had to flee and hundreds of thousands of homes have been destroyed. The international community must wake up and stop this. #ceasefirenow
Friends for a squillion years. I’m so lucky to have had these lads in my life since childhood. Sometimes a girl’s best cheerleaders are confident, awesome kick-arse lads. They’ve seen me through thick and thin and I love them. Great to catch up last night ❤️ P.S sorry to whomever lives in that house, outside which we were laughing wildly at all hours 😂

Mental ill health is the biggest reason for NHS staff sick days. It has been for many years now. The Conservative Government continue to let patients and staff down. NHS staff deserve so much better.
I love it when my friends have more talent in their little finger than I have in my whole body. ❤️❤️ So excited today to see my wonderful friend, inspiration and talented author @vanessawaltersb who is in town from New York and working on her next book already. She is a woman who had a dream and actually made it happen. P.S thanks @megansrestaurants in Balham for providing the cosy backdrop to our mega catch up.
2023 has been another incredibly busy year for me and my team. I’m so proud of the work we have done for the community in Tooting. See some of the highlights of the year in my thread: Photo 1: On behalf of @stgeorgeshospitalcharity, @fleur_anderson_ and I rode from London to Brighton to help raise funds for the Time to Change Appeal. Together we raised over £3,000 to support their work. Photo 2: This year, our incredible NHS turned 75. To celebrate, I joined my fantastic colleagues at St George’s Hospital. I know from my shifts in A&E how hard all its staff are working to keep it going, even in the hardest of times. Photo 3: Universal free school meals are equalling the playing field for children in London. I visited Earlsfield Primary School to see the rollout and show what Labour in power can do: ending inequality and helping every child get the best start in life. Photo 4: At the start of the Ukraine war, Tooting residents opened up their hearts and homes to Ukrainian refugees. When the Home Office were slow in reuniting Dmytro with his family, I stepped in to help. Photo 5: As a proud trade unionist, I was honoured to be guest speaker at @unisontheunion’s annual conference. Video 1: For months, I’ve been worried about staffing levels at Wandsworth Prison. I raised these with the Government last year, long before a prisoner escaped. On the day of Daniel Khalife’s escape, the prison was 80 prison officers short. Photo 6: Urgent action is needed to address the inequalities that impact too many people when detained under the Mental Health Act. That’s why I have been calling for reform of the Mental Health Act. The Tories scrapped the plans. Photo 7: Our local area is an incredibly vibrant place to live, but concerns have been raised with me about anti-social behaviour. Following public meetings with the police, I am pleased that more police officers have been dedicated to Tooting. Photo 8: As always, a lot of my work has been helping local residents address issues in the community. This year, I dealt with 13,000 cases. Video 2: The violence in Israel and Gaza has been heartbreaking. I have repeatedly called for a ceasefire.

There’s a Council by-election in Tooting Broadway on 18th January. I’m out campaigning for Sean Lawless, the Labour candidate. He’s a local renter, and has been working with me and the council to make Tooting safer, cleaner and greener.
Thousands of people are readmitted to mental health hospitals within a month of leaving – it wreaks havoc on lives. Why? Because the Tories cut a quarter of mental health beds and patients don’t get the care they deserve. 👉 Scroll to read my figures in today’s @guardian or head to the link in my bio.

As someone who trains at @balhamboxingclub, it’s been heartbreaking to see the recent flooding there. Today, I invited councillors and @wandsworth_council officers to the club to talk about achieving a positive future. Many thanks to Tony, Tasha and Winston for their hard work at the club.
