Caption : Sooo… I have just seen that Mr F put out a beautiful reel, with lovely photos and a tune that has made me cry, to celebrate the fact that 10 years ago tonight we met on a blind date that would change our lives forever. 6 years ago tonight we got married. And tonight we celebrated by making fajitas with the kids and watching I’m A Celebrity. This is us now, 11pm, glasses on, reading in bed, me with my retainer in. I’m putting this picture out because for all lovely photos and dressing up, this is where our marriage and our relationship happens- at home, doing normal stuff, and dealing with all the ups, downs, ins and outs that come with being a blended family. And I am so happy with that. I love, and am loved in return. That’s the greatest gift I could ask for. Happy anniversary Mr F. I love you. ❤️Likes : 10951

Caption : 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work. I haven’t done this for a little while as my time has been caught up with ‘mum duties’. Being a taxi service and making dinner isn’t very instagrammable! 😄 So this week was busy but good, with lots of variety and family time. 1. It was prom week! There was some last minute running around, but it all worked out in the end. We ended up with a house full of girls, mums and my parents who came to wave them all off. A really lovely moment. 2. It was @abbietuckerr_ wedding! The sun shone, the setting was perfect and I got to spend time with people I don’t get to see very often. Huge congratulations to Abbie and George. 3. I spoke at the @wisdomonwellness festival at the beautiful Painshill Park in Cobham. Although technically it was work, it was such a wonderful event that I loved every bit of it. It was a family affair as everyone came along for the day, (even @teddymcfeen) and we spent the rest of the day there enjoying the sunshine, the stalls and events. Thank you Alex and Mary for putting in such a great event! 4. My sister Linda is over visiting to celebrate her birthday! We don’t get to see much of each other as she lives in Ireland so it’s extra special to have her around. We ended the day at mum and dads, eating too much and laughing a lot, which is exactly how birthdays should be. 5. I’m throwing an extra one in this week, as I watched a brilliant series on telly that I had to share — ‘Colin from Accounts’ on BBCiPlayer. It’s an Australian comedy drama starring real life couple Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall. I LOVED IT. Warm, real, relatable and made me both laugh out loud and cry a bit. Perfect combo. 👌 #4thingsLikes : 3327

We went to the nicest retirement bash ever. Not just because of the beautiful location at the @rosewoodlondon but because it was packed with well wishers, two of whom gave the most heartfelt speeches celebrating an incredible career. I can’t wIt to see what you do next @andyppk1 3. I went to a lovely evening in London to support my friend @nickede with his charity @styleforstroke 4. And finally, pies in Putney! Thank you @emmab_radio for inviting us along, who doesn’t love a singalong? (Can you guess the song? 😂) What did you do this week to fill your cup? #4thingsLikes : 2463

Caption : 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: 1. My friend Andy popped in while passing through. He lives a long way away so we don’t see much of each other. It’s weird to think we first met at school 36 years ago – how in earth did THAT HAPPEN??!! It was nice to catch up. 2. Mr F and I went for a long dog walk which culminated in an unplanned glass or two of rosé and dinner outside in the sunshine. I’m glad we did it as it feels like we caught the last bit of summer. 3. I chatted to my son Fin on the phone for two and a half hours. It’s been a bumpy few years while he’s been away at uni (any parents of kids who started during Covid know what I mean). We caught up on all sorts of things – films, telly, books, psychology, theology… I think we covered it all! This was a snap I sent him mid chat to show him my view of Teddy. 4. We went to Notting Hill Carnival today! Growing up in Trinidad means it’s always pretty special. We got there early, I had my curry and roti, we chipped along behind a few bands then we headed home before it got even busier. It was Amy’s first time – I was around her age when I last went to Carnival in Trinidad, which is a strange thought! This week seems to be a reminder about all the changes that have happened in my past and present… an unexpected reflection. #4thingsLikes : 2292

Caption : So… I filmed this a few hours ago, when I’d not long got up and caught the train into London. The face hadn’t ‘settled’ yet. 🥴 The auto captions barely make any sense even though I’ve tried to correct them. So I hope between the strange wording and traffic noise you can figure out what I’m talking about! I thought I’d put it up anyway because it kind of sums up my day so far. And it talks about the latest Midlife Conversation with goes live at 10am tomorrow on YouTube, which is all about those Sliding Doors moments we have in our lives, where a tiny action or event can change everything. I chat with the very lovely Jennie Becker about the podcast she hosts which is based on the iconic movie starring @gwynethpaltrow and @iamjohnhannah It’s awesome. The link is in my bio. I hope you like it! P.S. I bought a T shirt to replace my coffee stained top and took my horrible socks off. I now look 50% better. 😅 #midlifeconversationsLikes : 2196

Caption : 4 things I did last week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work. 1. I went to the book launch of my friend @your_emmalucy brand new masterpiece on manifesting with crystals! Unfortunately I did not manifest staying long as I had to turn round and go straight back home as Amy got locked out the house and rang with 1% left on her phone. The few minutes I was there was lovely though, as I managed to catch up with @beckshumps – for the first time in real life! So nice. 2. I went for a facial at @dthomasclinic and felt very looked after. It’s a new discovery since our house move – I will be back! They really know their stuff when it comes to skin. (The session was #gifted) 3. Went to the driving range with Nick and Amy. This was one of the better shots. 🤭 4. I have started reading Cultural Amnesia – Notes In The Margin Of My Time by the late Clive James. I loved him back in the 90s and noughties, and for many years he was my secret celebrity crush because he was a wonderful writer (I devoured his books and articles) smart, funny and interesting beyond measure. You might remember him from the telly, he was brilliant. I was fortunate to meet him a few times and discovered he was also quiet and pleasant to everyone (even star struck weather girls, as I was then. I also stumbled across him at a tango class at a random, nowhere fancy part of London and saw he was surprisingly light in his feet! He would have been in his early sixties then. I last met him in 2007 when I was anchoring Loose Women and he came on to promote this very book, and the embarrassment I feel now at reading it is palpable. Perhaps it’s age – I’m now in my 50s, so closer to the age Clive himself was back when I first became aware of him – but I now fully appreciate what a life’s work this book is, something I realise I didn’t when I interviewed him. Like Clive himself, it’s not an easy read. Like him, like all of us, it has its flaws. It takes concentration, but like anything that requires effort is more rewarding because of it. I’m glad I stumbled on it again after unpacking boxes following our move. It’s been a joy to rediscover it, and him.Likes : 1649

Caption : 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work 1. Mum and I went to my son Finlay’s graduation from uni. It feels like two minutes ago from when I took him in for his first day at infant school, and suddenly this week he graduated! How did that happen? We are all very proud of him. 2. Amy and I went to see @missmikasimmons in the brilliant play Disruption at the Park Theatre in Finchley. It is SO GOOD – a Black Mirror style multi layered moral dilemma. Loved it! 3. Had a wonderful evening out celebrating @chrisbaber birthday at @langansbrasserie with @nickfeeneycoach Just a great night of great company, lots of laughter, chat and fabulous food. 4. We waved off my lovely sister Linda and husband Rory and niece Meghan who have been over celebrating Linda’s birthday. I love spending time with my sis, she’s just ace. I felt very lucky this week. It was nice. 😊 #4thingsLikes : 1250

Caption : 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: 1. I went to see we Will Rock You at the coliseum to support my friend @brendaedwardsglobal who as you can see was AWESOME! Surprise guest was #BrianMay – what a treat! It was an amazing night, not just the incredible show, but getting to spend time with our friends as well. Our goal of becoming more sociable is definitely happening! 2. This week’s telly show is @appletv #Loot. It filled the gap left by #tedlasso (I loved that show SO MUCH) as it is another series with heart and soul. I love #mayarudolf @mjrodriguez7 #natfaxton in fact everyone in it and can’t wait for the next series! 3. Sunbathed in the garden- thank you @thebodycampofficial for the handy hat. 🧢 4. Then we had more friends round for sundowners. @nickfeeneycoach makes the BEST espresso martinis and rum punch. #fact #4thingsLikes : 1203

Caption : 4 Things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work… I haven’t done this for a few weeks as I’ve been up to my ears with packing boxes and then unpacking them again. But the house move is done and life begins again! 1. I went to the launch of an incredible good and vitally important new book about women’s health by @drnighatarif It’s called The Knowledge and I urge everyone to buy it, just to have in the home as a go-to for everything you need to know from menstruation through to menopause. It was attended by the great and the good of the women’s health world, including the lovely @michellegriffithrobinson 2. We went out to dinner with friends and shared an evening of laughter, honesty, lived experiences and shifting perspectives. A perfect night. 3. This week I’ve been OBSESSED with The 6th Commandment on BBC iPlayer. It was so powerful and beautifully done. Timothy Spall broke my heart. The whole story has stayed with me, more so because it’s true. So sad. 4. Today we went to a screening of the short film My Week With Maisy, directed by @missmikasimmons and starring Joanna Lumley. It was wonderful, as was everyone in it. I hope it will come to your screens soon too, it deserves to be seen by everyone. What 4 Things have you done this week? #4thingsLikes : 1188

Caption : 4 things I did this week that filled my cup and nothing to do with work. This wasn’t a ‘usual’ week as I was really sociable! I am a real home-bird and it takes a lot to get me out these days. And I don’t have a single photo as I didn’t think to take any, as we were having such a great time! 1. I met up with the wonderful Katie Taylor of @loungethelatte who is one of the nicest women ever. 2. Had an impromptu dinner with my friend Lea Anne, and her family and friends from her native Canada. We have known each other since our twenties and she makes me laugh like no other. 3. Spent Sunday afternoon with my friend Claire, who I’ve known since we worked together in a pub aged 18. We went on to share a place together in our twenties, and although our lives have gone in very different directions our friendship is just the same. I love our catch up sessions 4. And finally… we celebrated the 51st birthday of Mr F. It was a family affair, with food, cake, bubbles and out of tune singing. One of the nicest birthdays we’ve had together yet. To celebrate, and because I don’t have pictures of anything else I did this week, here are some throwback pictures taken when I cut and dyed his hair blonde because that’s the kind of daft thing we did in 2020. Happy birthday Nick, you will always be ‘Kenough’ for me. Love Barbie xx 😘 Photos all by the brilliant @nickyjohnston #4thingsLikes : 1114

Caption : 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: It was an up and down week that ended on a high, which is always great. Today was the nicest Sunday I’ve had for ages, it felt like every possible box got ticked! 1. It was my birthday this week! 54. Crikey. How did THAT happen? I spent it exactly how I like it, quietly doing my own thing. Went to the gym, worked on some things I’ve got going on, then spent a few hours cutting the hedge and mowing the grass, while listening to a podcast. Doing that makes me happy, and finishing the day with dinner out with the family topped it all off. This card from my friend Jane really made me laugh, it’s like me and @teddymcfeen ! 2. We binge watched the whole series of Beckham on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it yet – DO IT NOW. It was excellent, so well made. I’m not a football fan, (I know all I know from Ted Lasso, that gives you a rough idea… 😂) but I found the behind the scenes footage and reflection of what happened during David’s career and their relationship riveting. This kind of documentary was never going to please everyone, which is fair enough, but I thought it was great. 3. We went for a LONG walk in the sunshine today and had a spur of the moment brunch with our friend @chrisbaber which is always lovely. 4. We played tennis! We were a bit ‘all the gear and no idea’ but it is always lots of fun. Even if I lose. Which I did – again. What did you do this week to fill your cup? 😊 #4thingsLikes : 985

Caption : 4 Things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: 1. Technically this was a work type event, but it didn’t feel like it because it was such fun. I was interviewed by the very impressive @jo_elvin for her podcast ‘Fame’ as part of The London Podcast Festival. To be asked to be a guest on a podcast that that featured the likes of @jameelajamil and @amyschumer was an honour! 2. Afterwords Mr F and I had an unplanned date night in a nearby restaurant, which was very nice. 3. I took @teddymcfeen for a long walk today before it got too hot to move. I listened to @steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast interview with @amycuddy as I walked. Such an impressive woman, and someone I’d definitely like to talk to myself one day. 4. We met up with our dear friends @nickede and @mrdrewnaylor for a long lunch today. We didn’t take any photos because we were too busy chatting, but here is one of us on our way home over my favourite bridge – Albert Bridge. There’s something so romantic about this bridge, I’ve always loved it. A lovely end to a very hot week! #4thingsLikes : 878

Caption : 4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: 1. Had a great catch up with @simonalexandero and @iamlauriewang in London. I loved the neon sign – and as someone who has recently moved back to the Big Smoke, it certainly felt apt! 2. Mum and I went out to lunch while Nick and Dad went to watch grown men chase little white balls around at Wentworth. It’s become a bit of an annual traction now for us all, and it’s lovely to have the excuse to go out, just the two of us. 3. Got up early on Saturday morning and took @teddymcfeen for a dog walk with Nick and @james_stew and little Milo. 4. We headed up to Leeds to support Nik and Eva @thespeakmans and their wonderful charity @traumaresearchuk helping people recover from the symptoms of trauma, panic, PTSD and anxiety. My gorgeous dress was #gifted to me by Leeds designer Rebecca Rhoades @rhoadesfashion I felt very glam – loved it! A very sociable week – what have you been up to? #4thingsLikes : 864

Nothing fancy, but my favourite things: family, friends and spending a night away with Nick. 1. Sunday lunch with friends @aarti.parmar and @hp7575 So good to catch up, and share thoughts and visions for 2024! 2. Had a lie in with @teddymcfeen for company. Just looking at his little face literally fills me with joy. 3. The face of proud mum and step dad. We went to see Amy in a college show. 🤩🥰 4. It’s Christmaaaaasssss!!! Caption : 4 things I did last week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: I am a day late doing this – it’s been a busy one! Last week was quite something, so many lovely things to get me out of the house and doing something different – something I appreciate so much more these days. 1. Mr F and I went to the @how.to.academy to hear a talk by hostage negotiator @scottwalkerbooks Wow. I thought I had pretty good diplomacy skills, but he was incredible! (So interesting to hear that his kids can still run rings round him though 😅) 2. We went to The Sun’s ‘Who Cares Wins Awards’. What night. We met so many wonderful people, and I was thrilled that I was by chance seated next to a woman who is literally listed in the notes section of my phone as an incredible human that I would love to meet. Her name is Sarah July de Lagarde, and she sadly came to public prominence after a horrific accident falling from a tube platform last year left her a double amputee. I was so inspired baby her mindset, and her attitude to this life-altering event, that I vowed to meet her. And I did! She is an amazing woman, with a beautiful spirit, I liked her enormously. I also realised that I stupidly didn’t ask for a photo – next time! @sjdelagarde 3. I have been slowly, slowly, focusing on getting well and building up my strength over the past five months. I went back to the gym six weeks ago, and have been working on my own, at my own pace, and incrementally I have started to feel and see a change. I feel good! Nick took this video of me, and I was shocked by how strong I look. It’s a nice feeling, like I am coming back again. 💪 4. We reunited with our amazing @thebodycampofficial friends in Hyde Park at the weekend, to support @bryonygordon @mentalhealthmates It was soooooooo good to see everyone, and walk in the Autumn sunshine. It’s obvious why walking and talking is good for the head and great for the soul. Loved it. What 4 things have you done? #4thingsLikes : 728

Caption : 4 things I did last week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work. I actually have lots of photos this week, which is very unlike me! 😁 1. I went to the first anniversary celebration of @tessysbrunches hosted by the magnificent @tessyojo Her drive and commitment to help women feel good is something we are 100 per cent aligned on!😊 Thank you @palassociates for the brilliant reportage photos. 2. Played tennis with Mr F. It was sunny. He won. You can’t have everything… 🎾 3. @emmaguns popped round for coffee which is always a highlight of any week. Our chats are long, detailed, uplifting, hilarious and slightly scurrilous… my favourite kind. 😁 Plus, she rates my poached eggs, so she’s a keeper. 4. Mr F and I went to my friend @petecohen_ Magnificent Health Summit and listened to some wonderful speakers talk about their learnings in the healthy mind and body space. @lucywyndhamread discussed her fitness journey from always being picked last for games in PE at school, to joining the army, to uploading a few fitness videos to YouTube back in the 90s – which led to a thriving fitness business and over 100 million views! @dr_bob_rakowski shared his experience and learnings in how the brain and body work, which was fascinating. I got a copy of this brilliant book by Carl Benton which is part cookbook, part mindset feeder (a brilliant idea) with all profits going to Stroud Women’s Refuge. (You can pick one up at www.inspiredcookbook.co.uk ) We also popped out for our lunch break to Spitalfields Market – yum. The last picture was taken a split second before I fumbled and dropped my dessert on the floor. 🤦🏻♀️ 3 second rule meant I still finished it. 😋 A lovely last week of August. #4thingsLikes : 705

Caption : This week’s Midlife Conversation is an up close and personal one as I’m joined by my husband Nick. This week we open up about our different parenting styles and attitudes and how we find our way through the choppy waters of teenage rites of passage. What do you do when you’re polar opposites when it comes to attitudes about ANYTHING that goes on at home? This is what we will be discussing tomorrow, and passing on our thoughts and experiences – while hugely over-sharing about what goes on behind closed doors! And I’m definitely going to sort my hair out… 🥴 The link to join is in my bio 👆 #midlifeconversationsLikes : 680
