My brother, Dan, and I are celebrating Father’s Day with our 95 year-old dad, Ed. Last night we watched Marathon Man and tonight — the French Connection. Nothing says Father’s Day like classic movies with the Pa! Thanks for being such an amazing father.
The contrast could not be more clear. While MAGA extremists continue to wage their revenge for Democrats holding Donald Trump accountable, we stand united in defense of our democracy.
Notwithstanding all of the Republican sound and fury signifying nothing, DOJ didn’t rush to investigate or to judgment when it examined the serious and credible allegations of criminal wrongdoing by Donald Trump. On the contrary, DOJ acted with great caution. Here I break it down:
Some are working overtime to excuse the facts and evidence of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. All to protect Trump. And distract from his indictment. Here’s a reminder of just *some* of the evidence of collusion we uncovered:
There is much work to be done in the fight for LGBTQ rights — especially in the face of the surge in hatred and bigotry we are seeing nationwide. Today, I joined @glaad and @charlotte.clymer to share my thoughts on where we are — and where we must go from here.

On the National Mall today, joining calls to release all hostages taken by Hamas after their attacks on Israel. Pictured here is 17-year-old Agam Goldstein-Almog, one of more than 240 men, women, and children taken by terrorists that day. Bring them home.
Celebrating the horrific actions of Hamas means celebrating the brutal rape, murder, and desecration of Jewish civilians. It means viewing Jewish life as somehow less than human life. At its core, it is the very heart of antisemitism.
The rise in anti-semitism must stop. The rise in Islamophobia must stop. The expression of all forms of bigotry and hatred and the violence they incite need to stop.
Trump bragged that he’d encourage Russia to “do whatever the hell they want” to our NATO allies if they didn’t spend enough on defense. He’s more interested in aggrandizing himself and pleasing Putin than protecting our allies. It would be enough to make Reagan ill.
The proposed Kroger-Albertsons merger is anti-competitive and could cost workers their jobs, result in higher prices for consumers, and harm communities. Raised my profound concerns with FTC Chair, Lina Khan during today’s hearing:
Eve enjoyed volunteering this weekend with Project Angel Food, and putting together healthy meals for cardiac patients. She said the kitchen was spotless and the food looked delicious. I made deliveries for Project Angel Food during the pandemic, and they provide a great service to the food insecure in LA!
So fortunate to be able to participate in the USS Midway Citizenship Swearing-In ceremony this week, and to witness brave veterans from all over the world become newly-minted American citizens. They defended our democracy and enriched our communities — and today, they can officially call this nation home.

It was great to chat with University of California President, Dr. Michael V. Drake. President Drake’s efforts to ensure college affordability for students from low-income families is incredibly important to creating accessible public education. I look forward to working with him to double the Pell Grant and make higher ed more affordable.
On this Veterans Day and every day, we salute the bravery and dedication of all who have served the country. Our veterans and service members embody the greatness of our nation, risking their lives to protect our freedom. Thank you for your service
Today marks our nation’s 247th birthday. We have such a proud legacy as one the world’s first modern democracies — it is a legacy worth protecting and cherishing. I wish you, your friends, and your loved ones a Happy 4th of July!
California’s community colleges are a path to the middle class for millions. Met with trustees and students today and reaffirmed my commitment to ensuring they have the support they deserve. We need to double Pell Grants and pass my Food for Thought Act to keep these institutions strong.
This American Education Week, we celebrate the unsung heroes of our nation’s schools – the teachers, staff, and educators who shape our children’s futures. I’m committed to fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and attacking student debt. Everyone has a right to a good education.
Eid Mubarak! I want to extend my best wishes to members of the Muslim community who are celebrating Eid al-Adha, a time of spiritual reflection, compassion, and renewed devotion to helping those in need. May your Eid be blessed.
Blood donors save lives. Unfortunately, there is an ongoing shortage of donor blood. I advocated for an end to discriminatory blood donation policies that contributed to this shortage, and this year the FDA finally got rid of the rule that banned gay and bisexual men from giving blood. On World Blood Donor Day, you can find your closest blood donation center here (https://www.redcrossblood.org/local-homepage.html).
