Pretty sure i’m overswifting at this point, but I thought showing off the artistry behind the Tokyo drip would be kinda cool or maybe not I dunno who cares it’s been four days and the 14-hour time difference has crushed the time-space continuum like for example I’m typing this at 2:46am and I’m wide awake AF. Anyway, here’s how one tailor and one graphic designer brought my idea to life. Tamara @tamtamthetailor stitched the Midnights font with a gradient effect, expertly adding the lyrics down the pant legs, and Marissa [graphic designer] actualized the concept of a playful Midnights album cover tee-swizzle avatar along with You’re On Your Own, Kid in both Japanese and English. When someone wins an HGTV Dream Home, we go to great lengths to make it a true surprise, and it ain’t easy; in fact it takes some srsly covert producing to pull off. For example: that time my EP, Alyssa, created a fake “family lunch meeting” for our winner Karey at her favorite Prairie Village, KS restaurant in which I was a pretend judge on a pretend food show and actually got away with it all because of my Clark Kent glasses. To make it even more complex, we needed Karey to then call and convince her husband to leave work and come to the impromptu “family meeting” on speaker phone. He arrived totally on edge [as I would be], and seconds later they were all crying when they found out they won the Warren, Vermont ski cabin. I still cannot believe this is my job!
