“I finished the second week of the meditation on compassion, and I have a question.

You said compassion needs no judgment –

‘The problem with judgment is that if you are in the right, you’ve put someone else in the wrong.

So judgment creates a gulf of separation.

And on the other side of the gulf, the person you judge against is usually judging you just as harshly.

Being thankful is the opposite of being judgmental.’

I have a relative who abandoned his children for money.

I really disagree with his behavior, and I don’t want to be friends with him.

How can I have compassion with this person without judgment?”

My Response:

Being compassionate toward another human being doesn’t mean you necessarily agree with his behavior.

I don’t know exactly what it means that “he abandoned his children for money,” but it’s unlikely that he describes his life choices the same way you did.

Being compassionate to someone is recognizing the common humanity we all share, a connection of spirit that binds us all even if in our pain, weakness, and misunderstanding we choose very different life decisions.

Being compassionate is for your benefit.

It keeps your heart from becoming hard and small.

Compassion opens you up, keeps you connected to others, and keeps your heart whole.

“Now that I have removed all my samskaras and have fully reintegrated my ego with my higher self, how can I find the motivation to expand my understanding of teachings?

As 99.9% of motivations come from the ego’s belief that it must PROVE to be good enough, now without the ego’s drive, what recommendations do you have to put energy into my teachings?”

My Response:

You don’t need personal motivation to accomplish great things.

It’s not about willpower or drive.

All that’s needed is to relax into the awareness of your higher self, and whatever role of service the Universe wants you to play, you will find all the energy and guidance you need.

It’s only a matter of being open and having no expectations.

Love,
Deepak
