Jim Sturgess Instagram – The film that my wife produced YELLOW has not only been shortlisted for an OSCAR but for a BAFTA as well!!
This is a crazy achievement for a film that was made with a very small amount of self funded money.
It‘s testament to the heart and message of the story and the film itself. An impactful story can be told without all the bells and whistles
With considered and precise writing a story from a far away land can move you as though their situation was your own. It can transcend the historical and geographical and can place your mind straight into the heart of our humanity. And that is what this film seems to be doing.
No tricks. No dazzle. Just something real. A quiet everyday moment.
To me the film makes something that should be so un relatable to my world and culture feel so relatable and heartbreakingly understood. That’s the power of story telling and that’s the power of this film.
But is it enough to penetrate the noise at the Awards ?
Who knows.. ?
Up against Netflix, Disney and some Hollywood heavy hitters this is a David and Goliath moment where the underdog is proudly wagging it’s tail.
