#이적의단어들 #멀티태스킹 멀티태스킹 중 내게 도저히 불가능한 것은 ‘음악 들으며 무엇하기’다. 학창시절 음악 들으며 공부하는 것이 어려웠듯, 요즘도 음악 들으며 책 읽기가 힘들다. 계속 같은 문장에 머물며 한 페이지 이상 진도가 나가지 않는다. 술 한잔 할 때도 가급적 음악이 없는 곳을 택한다. 뮤지션에게 음악은 언제고 뒤에 깔아 놓는 ‘백그라운드 뮤직’이 될 수 없다. 음악이 들리는 순간, 그것이 본론이고 주제고 모든 신경을 빼앗아가는 블랙홀이다. 좋건 싫건 화성 진행을 파악하고 악기 연주를 탐구하고 사운드믹싱을 품평하며 속절없이 끌려다닌다. 중요한 대화를 하려는데 앞에 ‘차원의 문’이 열린다? 죄송하지만 우리 음악 없는 곳으로 옮길까요?
#이적의단어들 #창작 #그러고보니이적의단어들시작한지딱일년 내가 먹은 음식 중에서 어떤 것들이 무슨 조화로 내 손톱이 되고 머리카락이 되고 피와 살과 뼈가 되는지 잘 모르듯, 내가 경험한 삶 속에서 어떤 것들이 무슨 조화로 이 곡이 되고, 저 가사가 되고, 그 이야기가 되는지 알지 못한다. 그래서 가끔 누군가 창작의 영감에 대해 물어오면 난감하다. 그저 매일 골고루 먹고 마시고, 좋아하는 것들엔 좀 더 탐닉하듯, 이것저것 듣고 보고 읽고 겪다 보면 어느날 문득 새로운 작품의 세포가 만들어지는 게 아닐지. 결국 내 몸의 주인이지만 인체시스템에 대해 잘 모르듯, 내 작품의 주인이지만 창작시스템에 대해 잘 모른단 말씀. 하루하루 살아가는 수밖에.
#이적의단어들 #비 #rain 어린 시절, 비만 오면 왠지 기분이 가라앉고 우울해지곤 했다. 우울감과 비를 연관짓게 된 것은 스무살이 넘어서였다. 그 전까지는 갑자기 허하고 눈물이 날 것 같을 때 이유를 찾으려 고민했었다. 물론 비가 전부는 아니었겠지만 분명한 연관성을 찾은 후에는 조금 마음이 편해졌고, 난 그 우울감을 해소하기 위해 아예 비에 관한 노래를 쓰기로 했다. 그리고 신기하게도 그 노래를 발표한 이후론 비가 와도 전처럼 힘들지가 않다. (비 오는 날마다 라디오에 노래가 흘러나오니 저작권료가 들어와서 그런가.) 참고로 가제가 였던 그 노래는, ‘그리 하면 사람들이 장마철에만 듣는다’는 당시 매니저의 참견에 힘입어 이란 제목으로 세상에 나왔다.
