Not long after Miranda and I had adopted Morris he soon was asking us if his friend Jin Jon (Tucker) could come to our house and play toys with him. Miranda reached out to the orphanage and we started to ask questions about Tucker. We found out he had Down Syndrome and had been left at the orphanage around 6 months old and was now 5 years old. We didn’t know much about DS but we felt it would be good for Morris to have a brother who looked like him and was already someone he loved. For those of you who have followed our journey you know just how special Tucker is – he came into our family and brought a true spark of joy and love that I don’t think we had ever quite experienced before. We fell in love with him exactly the way God intended him to be and he has fit perfect into our family – So much so that the next 3 kids we adopted all have had Down Syndrome! They are beautiful people who deserve life, love, opportunity, and respect. Happy National Adoption Day 💕 It felt so scary – all the unknowns and all the what ifs! I remember Miranda and I worrying about how we would make ends meet and if the kids would feel connected in our home and community. There were way more doubts telling us the timing wasn’t right and so many unanswered questions making us feel we weren’t qualified. We simply moved forward in faith knowing The one simple truth – Every Child Deserves A Family. We are so grateful we didn’t let fear and our own doubts stop us from bringing these kids home. What we didn’t know is how each one of them would change us and continue shape us into the individuals and family we are today in the most beautiful way! Tuesdays with Tucker! Even though we homeschool Elias Tucker they were able to join our local Jr High basketball team 🏀 The coaching staff and teammates have been so supportive and encouraging to Tucker. I am so thankful he has been given the opportunity to learn what it’s like to be a part of a team and to grow as an athlete. He has learned about camaraderie, work ethic, competition, and how to support each another.
