Yes I’m voting yes, no I’m not being paid, yes it’s probably going to be a waste of money but governments waste money all the time (submarines, anyone?), no it won’t solve everyone’s problems but its a gesture that we’re continuing to try, yes it plays in to colonial systems but if you cant beat em join em, no I don’t think this is part of a new world order/mining company land grab back (and this is someone who still isnt 100% sure that we ever landed on the moon so thats saying something), yes there are already indigenous representatives in government but they represent their elective not speak specifically to indigenous issues, no I don’t think indigenous people already have a voice because the only real voice in this country is big fat dollar signs and it’s very hard for 3% of a largely disadvantaged population to really financially threaten an institution like the british monarchy considering the crown literally owns ALL OF THE LAND IN AUSTRALIA. In all honesty, I’m voting yes because my life in Australia is great (despite a whole bunch of people on Facebook desperate to tell me how much they don’t like my new show), I really love this country (despite a few of its shortcomings), and throughout all this debate I simply have not seen an argument that worries me in any way shape or form or one that can convince me that giving indigenous people a voice in our constitution is going to change that. If your life is different and you see it differently, then by all means vote however you want! You do you, I’ll do me, and let’s all not be dicks in each other’s DMs and comments. x

Donning my ‘danna because next Friday Oct 27 is Canteen’s #BandannaDay. This is green one is my current favourite because I’ve been riding my bike a lot recently and Sofia thinks one of the riders on the bandanna looks like me (which means he must look like an unfit old man puffing up even the smallest hill 😵). Canteen is a not-for-profit that provides free services and resources to young people who have – or have been affected by – cancer, and seeing as I was once a young person in that situation, they’ll always have my support. Every single day, 63 young Aussies get told that they or a close family member has been diagnosed with cancer. With your support, we can make their journey that little bit more bearable.
