Ronan Donovan Instagram – Over 500 wolves have been tracked using collars since their reintroduction to Yellowstone National Park in 1995 – a result of one of the most detailed long-term studies of wolves to date. Using these collars, researchers can study pack movements, size, composition, prey selection and pup survival.

While there were numerous factors at play, it was ultimately Donovan’s camera trap that captured this photo! He explains that “the goal of a camera trap is to give viewers an intimate look at the wildlife they couldn’t get any other way.”
