Dear MOMA,
Today was a call for accountability inside the Moma for you to divest from genocide and ethnic cleansing. Free Palestine.
@nycpym
SILENCE = DEATH 🔺 In just 5 days, we have already sold over 250 shirts, raising thousands for Gaza and ACT UP NY. We are halfway to our fundraising goal!🍉
This past weekend, ACT UP NY proudly protested HRC’s Gala, demanding queer organizations divest from genocide and call for a ceasefire in Gaza. Here, @therealsararamirez spoke to the crowd on the importance of solidarity while wearing our new SILENCE = DEATH shirt, part of the Watermelon Collection for Palestine.
This shirt is now available for pre-order, with 50% of all our proceeds from this t-shirt sale going to Palestine. Buttons and caps are also available.
ACT UP NY will collaborate with @raindovemodel and their team of queer, non-binary, non-governmental, gender-defying activists in delivering direct, queer, cash aid to the people of Gaza, at a time when the United States government has decided to cut off humanitarian aid to Palestine by defunding UNRWA.
Future proceeds from the sale of this design will also go towards other organizations to be determined based on where in Palestine resources are must urgent and effective.
All products will be union-made in the United States in accordance with all labor laws and fulfilled by a small team of people living with HIV — preorder today, delivery in February.

Why is Netanyahu rejecting a deal that would save Israeli hostages? That would save lives? Some are calling him a genocidal maniac. He awaits several trials and knows his time is running out. Please let’s continue educating ourselves on the dangers of these “leaders” who are reflecting and enabling violent systems of The State, look to our Palestinian community for how best to show up, continue to criticize and push back on our own failing “leadership” enabling those same violent systemic structures in the U.S., and open our hearts and minds to the possibility that we, who remain silent and complicit humans (and tax payers) funding this genocide against -and ethnic cleansing of – Palestinian people at the will of a Zionist regime that doesn’t care about humanity, might be additional villains in this story. Repost from @lanzybear I use my hands when I get passionate.
You’ve heard of golden showers, but have you heard about “The Golden Handcuffs”?
@therealsararamirez breaks down why Hollywood is called #TheGoldenHandcuffs in that “there are a handful of people with the most power in that system, so it’s going to come with oppression. That’s the system of #Hollywood. Sara goes on to ask “What does a response look to an oppressive system when we choose to engage with capitalism through the entertainment industry. We better be ready to confront those systems and for many of us depending on where we are in our lives, what age we are, there does come a point in time where we’re done. We’re done playing along.”
Tune in for a dose of enlightenment.

On Feb 3rd 2024, a group of autonomous Queer folks held a rally outside of the annual @humanrightscampaign NYC donor gala. This action was to show the HRC that queer people do not stand with pinkwashing. Being funded by weapons manufacturers and oil companies will not happen in our name.
Thank you to all the organizations that supported this action, and to the amazing gala disrupters. None of this could have happened without you.

The first time I experienced Las Mariquitas- New York City’s only queer & trans salsa band- I recall their warm, electric, spirit & sounds magnetizing me into the room. The space was packed, the crowd was very inclusive. Bodies of all shapes & colors could not help but undulate to the vibrations of our ancestors/trancestors. From slow romantic tunes to fiery fast paced rhythms, Las Mariquitas has an uncanny ability to lay out a musical tapestry of pain, joy, & everything in between. I could sense the band was (and is) not only made up of some of the most beautiful, talented, queer people I’ve ever met, but unified for something more expansive than that space could contain. And there we all were, moving, singing & forcing the walls to contend with our unification through the music of Las Mariquitas. We danced, we sang, we connected. At one point Las Mariquitas descended from the stage into the crowd & opened the floor up for us to root each other on in our collective liberation. I knew in this moment I would be transformed forever.
When Las Mariquitas plays, it’s not just for entertainment, it’s not just about the tight & vibrant sets they perform, it is – additionally- about power of the people & of Mother Nature. The space they inhabit is welcome to all. Las Mariquitas has, with their spellbinding & soaring melodies, arrangements, vocals & lyrics, touched my soul & I am forever changed & grateful. Do yourselves a favor:learn what it is to experience Las Mariquitas live. This is an invitation for you to savor the delicious taste of liberation through the power of salsa & Las Mariquitas band.

Thank you Cecilia Gentili for modeling true leadership in how you showed up for community care, the resistance, policy shifting, and making space for joy. I’ll never forget witnessing you and Ceyenne Doroshow, along with @citgny and many trans led orgs, communicate the importance of this work to us at Marcha de lxs Putxs on Sept 18, 2020 in Queens, NY. I invited Qween Jean to come with me and we were changed forever. Your spirit ripples through us like the most healing, refreshing, empowering and reinvigorating water. Thank you for always checking in on my heart first, and valuing my humanity over what I’ve done for income. Thank you, Cecilia. I will cherish what you’ve taught me and the ways you’ve touched my soul forever. Rest in Peace and Power. I love you.
The legendary @angelicaross said exactly what needed to be said. You can’t have human rights in your name if you don’t fight for the rights of the Palestinian people. You’re either with us or you’re not.
📢 Join us in taking action:
📧 Email @humanrightscampaign to demand they divest from genocide, call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and remind them that there is no queer liberation for some without queer liberation for all!
Sample email text below:
As a member of the queer community and an advocate for human rights, I am deeply concerned about your ties to weapons manufacturers and your silence on the international call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
I urge HRC to reconsider those ties and to call for a ceasefire, divest from companies engaged in apartheid and genocide, and uphold HRC’s own principles of equality and justice.
The LGBTQ community’s struggle for justice and equality parallels the Palestinian struggle for liberation.
It is our duty as queer people to stand for the humanity of LGBTQ Palestinians, who are being massacred in Israeli airstrikes regardless of gender or sexuality.
By standing against oppression, advocating for peace, and recognizing the humanity of all Palestinians, HRC will be standing on the side of oppressed queer people worldwide in the struggle for true equality.
While hundreds protested outside, Palestinian and Jewish queers disrupted the “Without Exception” HRC Gala to find out why Palestinians are the exception.
By way of HRC’s financial relationship with weapons manufacturers such as Northrop Grumman who has been sending arms to israel, they are complicit in israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
‼️Calls to Action‼️
– Sign the petition: chng.it/Ns6rr8cJ7Y
– Send an email to [email protected] to demand they call for a ceasefire and let them know how you feel
Thank you so much to all the organizers involved:
