For Earth Day I had the honour of hearing @priscilatapajowara speak about the difficulties facing indigenous communities in the Amazon. A struggle against deforestation, aggressive agro-business, extractive industries and illegal mining. Although indigenous communities comprise only 6% of the global population they protect 80% of the worlds biodiversity. We all need to support these communities. They protect something sacred and essential for human life. Choose Earth is a beautiful campaign to support these communities, funding indigenous leaders, supporting activism and amplifying the voices that need to be heard. I was lucky enough to take part in The Journey at @embercombeuk a couple of weeks ago. Reconnecting with land, community, spirit, ritual, story, ancestry and the sacred. It’s a very special place offering a very special gift. A gift that I think we’re all, as human beings, entitled to experience but which the modern world (for all its wonders) has made quite inaccessible. I’m honoured to have been able to experience the land at Embercombe and the beautiful stories and wisdom offered there, from their wonderful teachers. ❤️ Thank you x
