This morning, we held a press conference at #NYFW to raise awareness for the absence of basic labor protections in the modeling industry, and urged @nysa_majority to pass the #FashionWorkersAct during the upcoming legislative session.
The current labor resurgence we’re witnessing across the entertainment industry is long overdue. Like actors and writers, models are struggling for professional dignity behind a veil of glamor and prestige. But the fashion industry infamously lacks regulatory oversight, putting us far behind the rest of the industry.
The #FashionWorkersAct – a pro-labor state bill that would finally regulate predatory management companies in New York – is a crucial step in ensuring models and content creators have basic protections at work.
