Back to start my carnaval in Salvador, in honor to @gresutijuca! 💙
The samba school was founded in 1931, in Rio de Janeiro. In 2023, they presented a parade about the famous Baía de Todos os Santos in Bahia.
The parade showcased the stories, legends, and daily life of the people living along the shores of the second largest bay in the world. The strong religious traditions of African origin are prevalent in the region.
Iemanjá, the queen of the sea and protector of fishermen, serves as inspiration for my costume today.

In the central region of Rio de Janeiro, lies the Estácio neighborhood, known as the “birthplace of samba.” It is home to Estácio de Sá, a school founded in 1955, which is my honoree today.
In 2023, Estácio de Sá celebrated the Maranhão festival of “bumba meu boi” in its parade. Maranhão, a state in Brazil, hosts an annual celebration where thousands of people come together to enact narratives from Brazilian folklore, with the playful figure of the ox as a central theme.
Amidst explosive colors, flowers, ribbons, sparkles, and textures, the school’s parade beautifully portrayed the encounter between the pagan and the religious, offering a rich tapestry of the culture of the northeast of our country and illustrating Brazil’s deep connection with spirituality.
