Esmé Bianco Instagram – 2021, you have been a nightmare gift. One of the hardest years of my life, yet I hold such intense gratitude for the gifts you have given.

You taught me that I have more strength, resilience and courage than I ever thought possible, yet you humbled me and at times brought me to my knees.

You cleared my vision, allowing me to trust my intuition more than ever. Taught me that I don’t have to ask anyone’s permission to speak my truth. That my voice is mine alone.

I have watched those I love struggle, but equally have seen them flourish and grow. I have been blessed with such incredible support from loved ones and strangers alike.

You challenged me as an artist, making me so vulnerable that it scared the shit out of me, but I did it anyway.

The world has at times felt very, very dark, and I thought it was more than I could stand. But stand I did.

I thank you, 2021, as we move forward into a new year. You were a badass bitch but then so am I.

And I thank every single one of you who have given me your love, support and solidarity. It does not go unnoticed, and means so very much to me.

Sending blessings of love, health, healing and light to you all for 2022

Esmé Bianco Instagram – Many people are scared of the word suicide. I certainly know I used to be. Having lost a number of friends and my aunt to suicide, the word embodied so much grief, anger and confusion for me. And then piled onto that there was shame and guilt from the times I found myself thinking about suicide. When I heard the word I felt scared and alone.
It wasn’t until I trained as a volunteer for the @samaritanscharity answering calls on their hotline that I was taught the vital need to talk openly about about the subject, especially when it feels the hardest. To ask someone straight up, “are you thinking about suicide?”. These frank questions do not ‘put the idea’ into someone’s head, in fact, research shows it actually lowers the rate of suicide. When we make it ok to have these feelings, and normalize these discussions, it is far less alienating, scary and isolating for those grappling with thoughts of ending their life.
This #suicidepreventionmonth please take some time to look at the resources in my bio about how to start talking to the people in your life about suicide, and what to do if someone shares their thoughts of suicide with you. You might just save someone’s life 🖤
