In this chat with Fearne, Matt talks through some of the personal experiences that led him to write a children’s book about a boy who’s approaching Christmas without his mum. They also share that creativity has the ability to pull them out of depressions.

Fearne Cotton Instagram – Last night was extraordinary!!! ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
We went to watch my friend @henryfraser0 incredible musical the Little Big Things which is a stage show based on his life.
I will not be able to articulate just how magical it is as you HAVE to see it and feel it.
The cast were sensational: their voices melted into the most beautiful harmonies, their delivery of the script had me laughing one minute and crying my eyes out the next and they brought Henry’s story to life in the most stunning way.
There were small moments where the whole stage would change colour, giving me goosebumps, or the lights would go out leaving you in darkness reflecting on life and quietly sobbing.
Thank god @suranne_jones
had some nanna tissues in her handbag. 🤧
It’s quite frankly a masterpiece.
I’m so glad Henry made it to the show on the same night as us so we could have a hug and a quick catch up. If you haven’t read his books, or seen his art work I urge you to follow him over at @henryfraser0 🎨

I massively enjoyed this deep dive into how childhood shapes us, being the ‘good girl’, and step parenting. At points I forgot we were recording as it felt so natural and intimate.
Also, as I’m not planning on going to any christmas parties this year as I’m in full hibernation mode, I’m wearing all my festive outfits for our @happyplaceofficial recordings. I’m all out in heels and sequins for the foreseeable.

Fearne Cotton Instagram – I had the best morning at one of the @thefelixproject depots meeting the volunteers. Meet Soren, Diana and Evie and 85 year old Jim who volunteers 6 mornings a week. There are some good eggs out there doing beautiful things.
It was brilliant to see the charity in action and to learn more about this incredible operation to redistribute food (that would otherwise go to waste) across London to families that are in need. Not only is the charity a vital life line to people across London in need but it also stops tonnes of food getting chucked away each day.
What I loved the most was the atmosphere at the depot and beautiful mix of people all working together and forging friendship. I feel greatly boosted by it all.
