#InternationalWomensDay is not for celebrating. It is for protesting against and raising awareness about the fact that people are still being oppressed or treated differently because of their gender. Stockholm, Sweden

Week 285. This week, we are unable to have a climate strike. I am one of 5 climate activists currently having a trial in London for peacefully protesting against a fossil fuel conference back in October. This peaceful demonstration aimed to highlight the terrible consequence of the everyday business of fossil corporations.
These companies are destroying and destabilizing the biosphere and climate, and the life-supporting systems we all depend on to survive. They have displaced and destroyed countless people’s lives and livelihoods.
We don’t have the laws to keep the carbon in the ground and ensure dignified and safe lives for present and future generations. Even though we are the ones standing here, and climate-, environmental- and human rights activists all over the world are being targeted for their activism, prosecuted, sometimes convicted and given legal penalties for acting in line with science, we must remember who the real enemy is.
The actual crime is committed by the very industries and companies we are acting against. We have the truth on our side, and we have morality on our side. In time, this will be revealed.

Yesterday I and three other activists from @fridaysforfuture.swe joined local Sami activists for a manifestation in Gállok. Here, on indigenous land, a British mining company wants to build a mine. That would be a disaster for the climate and environment. The Sami communities affected have clearly and repeatedly said no to this mine. We now await the Swedish government’s decision on whether they will allow this to happen or not. The short-term profits of a British mining company cannot be prioritised over the culture and rights of the Sámi people, as well as our climate, biodiversity and clean air and water. No matter what the people in power might claim, this mine will not be a part of a “green transition”. The time for false, neo-colonial climate “solutions” is over. The Swedish government must end the colonisation of Sápmi and the exploitation of people and nature. Sign the petition in my profile to show your support!

Today is overshoot day for Sweden. That means that if everyone lived like we do, the world would have already used up its annual resources.
For the rest of the year we aren’t just stealing the resources from future generations, but also from the present most affected people from the most affected areas.
The Swedish government today approved a mine in Gállok, in Sápmi on indigenous land. By doing so Sweden confirmed its shortsighted, racist, colonial and nature-hostile approach. Sweden pretends to be a leader for environment and human rights, but at home they violate indigenous rights and continue waging a war on nature. The world will remember this.

I’ve invited over 100 leading voices from around the world – scientists and experts, activists and authors to create a book that covers the climate- and ecological crisis from a holistic perspective. The Climate Book will be released in October. More info at link in bio!
Tens of thousands have signed a petition, saying #NoMineInGállok . On Friday the petition will be handed over to Sweden’s minister for business, industry and innovation @karlpetterthorwaldsson .
We hope that he will make the right decision. The colonisation of Sápmi needs to end.
You can still sign the petition, link in my bio!
