It is when the action crosses boundaries with personal insults verbally, or you are shown disrespect by actions violating your physical space. If giving opinion bleeds into such, you are in your capable right as a parent and role model to uphold your boundaries and stipulate healthy rules for engagement and continue the conversation.  Sometimes it is needed that both parties stipulate in taking a moment to catch oneself,regulate and come back to the conversation. It cuts both ways too parents! If parents could remember this tiny nugget of advice it would help their child feel heard and respected too.
