I was stunned by how much labor goes into growing, picking, sorting, and packing each piece of fruit. So much detail, love, and care goes around these amazingly delicious golden pears. Each pear is meticulously inspected, chosen and wrapped by hand. Only fruit that is ripe, unblemished, and of the proper shape and texture makes the final cut. And, then each “perfect” sweet orb is placed snugly into a seriously cushioned box, like fine bone china. When you see and feel a perfect pear, you just know! It just glows in your hand. Learning how to evaluate the pears at the Subarashii farm, felt like being a diamond merchant inspecting a bounty of gems! And each fruit, really just feels and tastes like a precious jewel. Judy Joo Instagram – I recently visited @lisboeta.london on Charlotte Street, and it was like stepping into a slice of Lisbon life right in the heart of London. At Chef Patron Nuno Mendes’ culinary haven, every dish tells his personal story showcasing Lisbon’s rich culture and gastronomic heritage. Chef Nuno is just the nicest person too! I adore him! The highlight of my experience was Nuno’s twist on a classic pastel de nata, but turned savory– a prawn nata! I love raw seafood and pastel de natas, so this dish was right up my alley. This little cute tart housed a silky slightly sweet prawn custard topped with a totally delish smoked red prawn tartare. It was reminiscent of a prawn rissois, a fried Portugese turnover stuffed with creamy shrimp, and apparently the inspiration for this yummy bite. Lisboeta is Chef Nuno’s love letter to his home country, offering an authentic taste of the city’s lifestyle and traditions, but with exciting and surprising twists and turns.
