Every lawyer will tell you: A summary of a contract is NOT a contract. Every word matters. When WGA achieved their own historic agreement in September, they shared both a summary and the complete tentative agreement with members. They held multiple informational meetings online and in person within four days of publicly sharing the TA announcement. They answered questions. They fielded member concerns. They empowered captains and their membership with the means to explore what their rights would be under the new MBA. SAG held one informational member meeting — though their membership is 10x larger than WGA. SAG has only released a summary of the TA. SAG leadership has expressed they have no intention to share the complete TA prior to the member vote. And elected SAG officials are repeatedly telling membership at large, “Trust us.” **Reminder: You can trust NegCom’s intentions, respect all the hard work they (and we) put in to get to this point AND demand transparency.** Make sure you know what you’re voting on before you vote. Demand SAG release the full Tenative Agreement. SAG members deserve to be empowered and educated as they vote on their future.
