November 30, 2023 :: Some photos of and with friends while in São Paulo 🇧🇷. We ate delicious food, saw beautiful art, and had good ol’ belly laughs:
1-3) Liberdade is an unforgettable area rich with Japanese culture. The Torii Arco Vermehlo da Liberdade was a good starting point for exploring.
4-5) Beco Do Batman has vibrant street art and boutiques featuring local artists and designers.
6-7) MASP or the Museum of Art São Paulo 😍
8) We splurged on an amazing Omakase meal 🍣. My favorite was the butter fish sashimi ♥️
9) We all scream for ice cream! Do you think Kam and I ate that whole bowl?
10) Catedral de Sé de São Paulo

December 20, 2023 :: “Travel. Travel. Travel. Travel. From the back to the front. She made it! She made it!” 💃🏻🏃🏻♀️
Love the love that Holly gave to us for this part ♥️ Can I get a 🫶 for all my shorties out there?
In this part of “Shake it Off” my opposite, T Banks, and I transition from the farthest upstage part of the formation to the farthest downstage part of the formation in 4 bars (or 2 eights). My legs may be short, but they take me to far places 🤗 And if you haven’t yet, you can now stream the extended version of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” from the comforts of your own home✨

December 23, 2023 :: I spent the last three weeks with my parents in their homeland, and seeing where they came from always 1) reminds me of the stark improbability of our lives today and 2) fills me with a deep sense of gratitude.
My parents came to the US from the Repbulic of China, also known as Taiwan, in 1984 for my dad to get his masters in computer science at UC Santa Barbara. My brother and I were born and raised in California, and growing up I feel like we juggled and sometimes struggled with two very different cultures. To value individuality or the group? To prioritize our interests or our education? Our parents managed to gracefully straddle these contrasting Eastern v. Western ideals as they raised us.
To spend time with my parents in the place where they are from is to see what they sacrificed and how they struggled. How they broke through social and economic barriers in not one but two countries. How the things that may seem absolutely impossible in one generation is attainable in the next.
謝謝爸爸媽媽,真幸福有您給我的支持和愛心♥️

December 30, 2023 :: Some moments in the studio ✨ I was so fortunate to spend a lot of 2023 performing, and I’m equally grateful for the part of my dance practice that is introspective and explorational. Here’s a reminder that every craft is made up of not only polished products but incomplete ideas and constant drafts 💡👾💃🏻

1 – “Indeed” by Cruza
2 – “Groove Therapy” by Cruza
3 – “151” by JID
4 – “No L’s” by Smino
5 – “Big Bet” by Cruza
6 – “Tell Me (Heaven May Be Certain)” by Whoarei

The day before our 2023 WI begins I’m reflecting on how this is the first time in 5 years that I’ll be absent for this event, and how I already miss the magic, learning, and growth that we all experience during this special weekend 🌟 🥲🥹♥️ Can’t wait to hear all about it 👯♀️🕺🏻💃🏻🪩
